If Petrino resigns tomorrow I think he, Arkansas, and the department will be able to spin this as personal decision and allow him to rebuild any character issues. My fear is though, Englemann, Irwin, and KATV won't stop digging slinging all involved in the sewer to serve their agenda to become most important stations. Those stations have lost clout and will use this to get it back.

Curious outsider looking in here. Has KATV et al. done some slinging recently? Would it even be a gain for them? Honestly wondering which way the different Ark. media groups go. Have family that work with different TV stations there

In my opinion, KFSM KATV have lost clout when it comes to the department and viewers. This situation will be a media war, and the University will lose due to it. See SMU as an example of what a media war will do to a program.

Petrino is an excellent coach. An a-hole, but a great coach. He and Arkansas will never live this down. Imagine the signs and posters next time Arkansas comes to town. He will leave the SEC. He will be succesful in football, just not in the SEC.

That will never happen here. The UA will not allow access to anything Razorback related. They've done it to a certain radio station before.

Inman also still has a pipe dream of becoming the voice of the Hogs. KATV isn't stupid. KNWA is probably the most reputable media outlet, and Aaron Peters isn't leaving Dickson Street to investigate shite with his extra time.

Indeed. Maybe we'll all get a cool ESPN 30 for 30 on it someday

It's not KNWA it's KFSM and KATV you need to worry about. Irwin still has an axe to grind about something a long time ago. I think he feels slighted that he stopped being the Uark go to guy for releases. KATV needs to get their foot back into the door. I still don't trust Stephens at all either.

Remember there is a new guard of heads of departments at KATV that have no reason to trust UA.

But they wouldn't bite the hand that feeds you, right?

{Granted I know little about the overall media market, apologies}

If our media fricks this up...I will boycott them all. I have a feeling I wouldn't be the only one either. Hell, I only watch/read any of them to hear good news about the football team. I'm not tuning in to hear "new coach Fruck Tard loses another one"....

God damn it.

I believe he has been fairly successful in the SEC already. Still has a couple of hurdles to overcome, mainly Alabama - but what he has managed so far is pretty successful in a lot of eyes.

The local media is a joke. If Petrino doesn't get fired then KFSM is going to be fricked because of all the shite their slinging.

well i'm guessing that if Warren Stephens doesn't get his way (whatever that is) that he'll go nuclear on somebody at the U of A.

I just don't think you will ever see a state media outlet go digging to find something.

They would get shunned by an entire state, or something bad would happen. Tree killing in Bama would have nothing on what some hog fan would do.

I never watch KHOG KNWA or KFSM except after games to see how dumb they will explain things. But again the way JFB controlled access is long gone. I'm just seeing Stephens and Central Ark stations being stupid and forcing the NWA stations to respond. That's what I mean by a media war. I have no reason to believe that KATV and KFSM will not stick their middles up and just start slinging to get viewers, especially KFSM.

Stephens is/was a Petrino fan. He is one of the bigger "promisers" for the total 320mil in renovations. Yes, you can expect one game to stay in LR for a while, but only one from what I've been told after this contract.
