Pelphrey had a solid resume. He was the best guy available who wanted the job at least according to that 90,000 dollar firm that found him.

I do not think the coaching has been that bad at Arkansas. Look at Heath for instance. He came into a tough situation. Had Richardson not been removed the Heath years may have been stronger b/c some players left and some committed went elsewhere and that happens with coaching changes and big name guys. Heath did win 4 conference games in the big east last year which was stronger than the SEC. Heath didn't excite the fans but he might be better than Pelphrey and might be the best available for Arkansas but unfortunatly Ark fans ran him off by not going to the games and supporting NCAA bids, simply b/c he wasn't going to final 4's in 5 years. Heath is 5-1 right now.

Pelphry's resume was not solid. He got to UA from USA where he took a team built by Ronnie Arrow to a NCAA Tourney. He could not produce a bid when he was the favorite. He was known to take chances on kids that were questionable character (see above) and look what is happening now.
