frick that... One year when I was in summer school in Oxford 4th of July fell on a Sunday... Everyone was out at Sardis and running out of beer and the beer stores were closed on the holiday... Miserable.

To all of y'all laghing at this ruling, OM has consistently been at top 10 party school as long as I can remember even with these limitations. We're about to need some serious rehabilitation facilities here.
Do the bars still close at midnight? Y'all will be fine.

The parties aren't at the bars.

And if you are wanting to really drink and drive, you can go to the liquor store and buy a fifth of cold jäger and pound that on the way home, something that you could have done here for the last 50 years. But oh noes, someone is gonna drink one cold beer on the way home (which is legal in MS I might add).

Has it always been no cold beer sales in Oxford?
For some reason, I thought it was changed after the incident with the police officer and the drunk driver.

It was that way when I first got to Ole Miss in 2004, before that police officer incident.

Okay, for some reason, I thought it was changed after that.

Not sure about the bars closing at midnight, but I thought that was decided not too long ago after a girl was killed not far from downtown. I think that incident happened in 2003. I'm probably way off on that though.

Was that the KD they have the walk for every year? I thought that happened during the day.

Telefaw's favorite 3 bars in College Station:
1. The Man Hole (affectionately referred to as "The Mud Hole" by Aggie students)
2. The Male Box
3. Club 8=3

Just saying that you know some people will try and drive. This topic makes me a little grumpy because of paralyzed friends that have been hit by drunk drivers and are going to be in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives and they are considered lucky to have survived. I just tie getting drunk to driving. I sure it won't be that bad, but I always thnk of them first.

I was there in 2001, 2002 at the latest, and beer was sold warm at the stores.

You don't have an open container law?
That makes sense regarding the law in question if so.

No. That happened way back. That was a sad situation there.

The one I'm talking about happened right where the railroad overpass use to be. That has now turned into a bridge over Jackson Ave. A kid was driving drunk on his way home and when he sped around the curve of that overpass, he hit a girl head on killing her on impact.

I know people are going to hate me for this: I don't like that this got passed. I understand wanting to go out on NFL Sunday, but one day a week without beer is a good thing for Oxford. You can just buy beer the day before. I have a big problem with drinking and driving and this will make it a WHOLE lot easier.
I'm sorry, but I as a responsible adult should be able to go to a sports bar, eat wings, and watch some NFL. It's bullshite bible thumping and the only reason we don't have wet Sundays.
