Maybe, but I do think Freeze repaired a lot of the damage done in critical relationships under Harsin and repaired the roster to a degree that someone will be set up for success if they can bring an offense with a pulse. A majority of the roster is retainable, they just need a QB and more consistent OL play. Post-Harsin, it felt like we were starting at zero, but at least there is some foundation to work with.

Well, he wasn't provided much incentive to stay in the hell hole created from the onset. Maybe, the man just said frick it and rode it out to a paycheck because of the incompetence and interference.

The man, Harsin, couldn't be bothered to go out and recruit on Fridays. He was too arrogant to listen to staff members who tried to tell him what recruiting in the SEC was like. And he got fired for his arrogance and unwillingness to recruit. He probably does have a decent football mind, but it takes more than that.

Freeze's inability to turn a halfway decent roster into wins is exactly what got him fired. Not sure how that makes Harsin a genius.

At least Freeze recruited and left us with a fairly decent roster.

Do you expect the roster to remain intact considering the portal exists??

The worst would be either Dooley/Jones or Jones/Pruitt. In the history of the program, UT has had 9 seasons with 7 or more losses. 3 of those were under Dooley (who coached 3 seasons), 2 were under Jones (who coached 5 seasons), 2 were under Pruitt (who coached 3 seasons...note...the only non-7-loss season under Pruitt all wins were vacated).

So, of the 9 worst seasons in UT history, 7 were under Dooley, Jones or Pruitt.

Bama had a string of losers between Stallings and Saban.

And yet somehow managed to beat Steve Spurrier twice in one season for an SEC championship with Mike Dubose.
Shula had a 10 win season and a 31-3 clobbering of Urban Myers UF squad despite a scholly reduced team.

Good question. Completely intact, no. Some will leave. Some would have had he been allowed to stay. I wish he had found a way to win a few more games and field an offense that looked competent, then we could be sniping off LSU's and Florida's roster. But here we are.

How fast the AD can name a permanent HC is certainly a factor. And then it is on that guy to convince the ones he wants to stay. That's just how it is at Auburn and at every other school these days. You have to recruit them and then re-recruit them every year.

I'm sure that's one reason why successful, older coaches are leaving, like Saban and Pearl.

Price-Shula were not an Alabama high water mark

Oddly enough, each one of the that actually coached a game had a 10 win season.

Mike DuBose was probably the worst hire in Bama history. He had no control of the program, delivered two of the worst seasons in 50+ years and cheated to do it. Oddly enough, if DuBose doesn't drop that game to La Tech in 1999, Bama likely had a shot a playing in the national title game.

Franchione was actually a pretty good hire and I think would have been solid if he would have stuck around.

The Mike Price situation was pure comedy... It's rollin' baby!

Shula was hired as pretty much the only man who would take the job and was in an impossible situation. He managed to steady the ship and is under-appreciated for his contribution. Nice guy, brought some dignity back to the school, but was likely never going to take it to the next level.

Franchione and Price have to get an honorable mention.
