It would be nice to have a Heisman winner here. But I would much prefer another national title.

And I would prefer to have players come here whose goal is to win the SEC and NC rather than just a Heisman.

Johnny Majors, star of UT's undefeated 1956 team losing out to a dude off a 2-8 Notre Dame team that got smoked like every game
You are talking about "Golden Boy", Paul Hornung. I am not sure that Majors should have won over Hornung though. Especially not just because he team was better.

How many NC's did those heisman winners bring auburn

Most Auburn fans and many organizations recognize that 1983 team as the MNC team that year. They played what is considered a top 5 hardest schedule of all time.

Get over the tired age old argument k.

Um, if winning isn't a big part of the Heisman the how the bloody frick did Peyton not win? That was supposed to be the only argument against him, that he didn't beat UF or a NC. Yet it's okay for Hornung to go 2-8 and win it over a guy who was the star of a 10-0 team?

Sorry, but it's a pretty tired old argument to continue to throw the Heisman winners in our face, knowing good and well that Heisman winners don't mean anything relative to the overall success of a program... and particularly when the same show that you are quoting also stated that 4 out of the 5 best players to have ever played in the state of Alabama played for the University of Alabama.

It is supposed to be "the best player in college football". Nothing about team in that description.

Congrats, on the MNC

Miami and Nebraska both had more recognition by 'organizations' that year.

I agree, but you can't have it both ways just to screw UT over with opposite justifications.

That said, I will say something nice about Bama. I always thought the no heismans(maybe because I can identify) was a unique selling point about the program. Team success over individual.

When they play half the schedule that team did I'll give it to them.

Excuse me... I just rewound it on the DVR. They listed the top 4 players to have ever played High School ball in Alabama.

That list was:

1. Bo Jackson
2. Ozzie Newsome
3. John Hannah
4. Bart Starr

3 of 4 went to the University of Alabama. Pat Sullivan is from Birmingham, and did not make the list.

Bammers really don't have a lot of room for yapping here.

I didn't post that. I don't throw that crap at any program.

Miami played 4 ranked teams lost to one, that being Florida.

Nebraska played 3 ranked teams lost 1 one that being Miami.

Auburn played 6 and lost to 1 that season. Also Auburn played 5 teams that ended the season as top 10.

Ok, pretty sure Miami took it and weren't waiting for you to "give it to them ."
Great job, though, it sucks that auburn gets no respect. Peoples Champions!

I was agreeing with you. I was replying to a Bammer fan talking about most organizations recognizing it when half of their "12" count lack that standard.
