College football is the one sport where the regular season is still exciting. I don't want to see it ruined, but I fear the worst.

Mark my words. If college football ever starts giving out automatic berths for the CFB Playoff, there's going to be teams resting starters in the final weeks. Or at best, it's going to be like the conference tournaments in college basketball where all of the top teams do play their starters but don't really give a damn if they win the tournament or not.

What I've always said except I think the committee should be able to decide to keep a conference champ out of the playoffs with 3+ loses.

Pretty much agree with this. 1 loss, no problem. 2 losses in a tough schedule, it can easily happen. 3 losses, your team is simply not good enough to be in the playoffs. Example: say Tennessee upsets Alabama in the SECCG. I do not think they would deserve a spot in the playoffs and yes, I would feel the same if it was Georgia. Losing to Alabama, expected. Losing to a good A&M team in a close game, sure. Losing to 5-5 SC, you've lost consideration.

Scrap the playoffs all together. They are stupid and I've never liked them. Expanding them would only further water down the regular season which was the best in all of sports.

No byes, no at-large, no wild card, no opinion polls, none of that silly childish shite. Straight up 8 best conference champions. Simple, straightforward, inclusive tournament of champions seeded by SOS.

Shucks, looks like Emperor Saban disagrees with his plebs on this one.

Anybody care to breakdown how Saban's opinion just won't hold up in a court of law?

quote:

“What I say next is: Through the years, I’ve been an advocate of playing all Power 5 conference schools, playing more conference games. I know it’s a more difficult schedule but I think it would be better for the fans, it would be better for … in the playoffs right now, if you want to talk about that, that system is if you lose a game, you’re on thin ice. If you lose two, it’s almost impossible. I think if we played more like the NFL — the New York Giants won the Super Bowl a few years ago and lost six games. You play quality opponents every week and probably end up losing more games, but I think at the end of the day it would be more competitive for everyone involved relative to the fans and players and the selection committee and all the things that go into it.”

Eight teams or keep it the way it is. You have to prove yourselves in the playoffs, even #1. That's why I love March Madness

Here's what needs to be done.

11 regular season games. Drop the cupcake weekend.
Conference championship makes 12.

24 team playoff like FCS, D2, and D3.

Needs to be 12 to include the group of 5 champs. That's 10 conference champs plus two at large.

Either the group of five is part of fbs or not.

Yeah I disagree. Hell, I even disagree multiple times on Saturday with play calls or even a player on the field in a certain situation.

Playoff expansion would kill college football and I would treat it just like I do the NFL - stop watching the BS where no game matters.

Feel better?

Bye weeks are a terrible idea.

Home advantage would be deserving.

Bye weeks are undeserving.

Nope, it could be 8, with the 3 lesser conference champions selected by SOS.

This is the best format, in my opinion.
