It's not about pretentiousness, it's about deliciousness. It's one of my favorite beers, and the thread was hypothetical anyway. I wouldn't actually spend the money on Chimay for a tailgate.
A more realistic choice for me would be Shiner or New Belgium but I'll drink someone else's Bud/Miller/Coors/whatever without complaint if it's free

I would have to say steaks and ribs with Coors Light or Makers Mark/Coke. You can also throw in a Yellowhammer in there also!
