State has begun talks of stadium expansion for the north endzone

They should wait to see if we actually have a couple of decent to good years before considering this.

No harm in "beginning talks" about it

Alcorn State

I honestly use to think this was a Community College. This would be like Ole Miss playing Delta State, LSU playing Southern University, Bama playing South Alabama, etc.

We can't even fill up the 60,000 stadium we have. Because there is another one 2 hours south of us. Neither school has the fanbase to pull that off.

Population does not matter. Forget that State/OM fill their stadium at a higher percentage than Bama/AU does to comparable populations. Does not matter.

Why don't you get rid of all this angst in your life and find a new team; like Rutgers or something? Dayum you are a sad little man!

And here we go--that Missippi inferiority complex coming at you in full force, as it always eventually does.

"Hey, buddy, learn to love being a loser like we all have or just get lost because we don't need people who think like winners around us, making us aware of the fact that our own failures are our own faults?

Yep......

You can fill 90,000-seat stadiums with your own fans if you are a top-tier program that is competing seriously on a year-in, year-out basis.

But you have to decide to be first-rate in everything first and have a master plan to accomplish it and that requires vision, not excuses.....vision that Ole Miss has never had in the last 40 years....as you just demonstrated.

I actually agree with you here.
If Ole Miss some how wins 8 games next year we have to be on Petey's arse to expand the stadium. We have to legitimize the program the first chance we get. We had a chance to do it this year but we failed. We step that stadium up and we'll get new fans from Memphis.

I would like to see us bowl in the NEZ. Just the lower bowl though. That video board won't be moving any time soon. But I could seriously see us re-doing the Press Box and connecting it with the SEZ. To be honest... if we can pre-sell most of the new suites, I really don't see any reason not to redo it. Luxury suites on top and the press area on the Rebel Club section.

While you are at it, figure out a way to close the gap in the football budgets; Alabama, LSU, Florida $40+ million to the $15+ million you spend. That's not an excuse. You will have to close the gap to compete year in and year out.

This is the main problem and was why I was joking about having a 90k+ stadium.

Re-doing the press box and adding more/better luxury suites bring in some damn big $$$$$.

Maybe.
I've got a feeling that a ton of Bama's, LSU's and UF's budget just goes to waste, though.

A better question: When was the last time Ole Miss was ranked in he top 25? Maybe you guys can make it to the tourney this year.

We got to number 15 just two seasons ago. Don't act like Ole Miss being ranked under Andy Kennedy is some bizarre phenomenon.

We can raise the money to bowl in the south Endzone.

The question is whether or not we can make it work financially.
Since our AD is a Jew, we have to prove that we can put people in those seats.

All the programs you mentioned do aggressive, systematic fundraising for athletics just as they do for academics.....which is one reason they have so much money to spend.....that and the revenue that comes from having a bigger stadium in the first place.... Ole Miss, on the other hand, does no fundraising for athletics and Khayat actually forbid it on his watch.

Again, you have to have a master plan with all the pieces in place, not the kind of half-step here, half-step there approach that has existed for so long.....

We went to the NIT finals after a late season collapse :(.
I think it's because Parnell went down against UT.

Luxury boxes are the key. IIRC, the SEZ boxes all went for 100k a year when they first opened and about 300 something dollars per ticket to even get into your 100k box.

The lower level boxes next to the press area of the press box only go for about 30k a year.
