well to be completely clear even if we the students vote No then the school can still go about and give us a new mascot....We actually arent voting yes or no to a new mascot, we are voting on if we (the students) want part in coming up with a new mascot.....
but i dont think if say 80% vote no that the school will push a new one on us....

Our entire student body composed a single unit in the confederate army. All but one died in pickett's charge at Gettysburg. We were first known as the Flood but in 1932 our Athletic department polled 28 or so Mississippi sportswriters on what they thought the name of the team should be. 19 came back as rebels.

Exactly. A large portion of students were against getting rid of FDWL, but they didn't listen to them (for good reasons though). They are giving us the potential to have some sort of input on a mascot, while they will likely come up with something PC and stupid. The fact that they considered Rowdy Rebel as a replacement makes me think that they have no idea what they would be doing. The Students don't need to sign away their ability to vote.

Everyone was against us getting rid of FDWL.
But, the majority were also behind the admin's decision to cut FDWL if ignorant assholes didn't stop chanting the south will rise again.
If that was a trap, then the students who chanted set it on themselves.
