Since phones apparently won't post a pic. Just because I can again

Not a pushover team. Will NOT be an easy victory for them.
Ole Miss won't have a lot of trouble with Central Arkansas. Freeze/Arkansas State beat them last year. He'll have them ready. If Nutt were coaching, I would feel differently.

Freeze has been quoted saying he had more talent @ Arky St. Central Ark took La Tech to overtime last year in Ruston. The same La Tech team that rolled through Oxford last year 27-7.
I do think OM should win this game. But it would be foolish to mark it down as an automatic W...

He was quoted as saying he had more talent or more depth at certain positions. Big difference.

The quote in it's entirity:
quote:
COACH FREEZE: I don’t know if that’s a fair judge necessarily, because the year we had last year at Arkansas State was a remarkable ride. The chemistry we had, the discipline that was already there that I have to give Steve Roberts, the coach before me, a lot of credit for. He had a lot of great things in place, and I learned a lot of things from him. Defensively I thought we were really, really talented at Arkansas State. If you look at it, we have four kids off that defense that two got drafted, two were picked up in the draft. I think we had some really talented kids defensively. Then our quarterback play, you know, for him to complete 72% of his balls, throw for 4,000, lead us in rushing also, he had a phenomenal year. If you get that kind of play out of that the defensive line, whatever league you’re in you’re going to have a chance. I do think we were more talented at some spots, or maybe ‘deeper’ is the appropriate term I should use.

So yeah, exactly what I just said. Thanks for pointing that out.

Crooms last year y'all were absolutely terrible but Mellens came in changed the mind set of the program and put a lot of infasis on the egg bowl because it he lost it was expected but if he won he had job security till he died.
It worked and he won. So your telling me that that Croom team isn't comparable to us last year and your going to be that much better than we were in 09?
I'm not saying we are going to win but claiming its as sure as the Patriots playing a high school team is just ignorant.

True.

Crooms' final team won two SEC games and four the year before. They were god awful but not quite as bad as Ole Miss last year.

Crooms was a missed XP and a chip shot FG from beating Kentucky, played Auburn 3-2, and got outcoached by Dooley in a game he should have won.
We werent terrible- and if Crooms was any coach at all- he would have won 2 of those 3 to win 6 games and saved his job.
Mullen took over a much better situation than Freezus has

Wait, so you can claim coaching incompetency with Croom but we can't with Nutt? You really are the most blindly biased person I have ever heard of.

First of all, where did I compare State to OM one single time? I didn't. So, your entire argument is based on something I didn't mention.
In 2008, we were the most injured team in college football by a wide margin. I forget the exact statistic of # of starts missed, but it was about double of any other team in CFB. That was a fairly talented team in the preseason before players started dropping like flies(lost 3 or 4 guys in fall camp if I recall correctly). It was still VERY close to being a bowl team. With Mullen coaching that team, we go 7-5 at worse.
The situations are/were not similar at all. Your situation is similar to the one Croom walked into for 2004 for a multitude of reasons. It is not at all similar to the situation Mullen inherited.

I wasnt specifically talking to you, you were just the last post and one I relied too.
I should have replies to corch and his "no way we can bridge the gap In a year" comment when y'all overcame a 45 pt deficit because of coaching incompetency. Which was the reason for 3-4 of our loses.

I'm not saying you cant- but Nutts won some SEC games and put teams in Atlanta- Crooms, I mean come on- was Crooms.
There is a difference in losing to Kentucky by missing 2 kicks- and you guys getting blown the frick out by Vandy. There is nothing biased about that at all

Like the poster above said, Freeze is coming into pretty much the same situation Crooms did after Jackie was gone. Lots of transfers, lack of player discipline, no depth, etc. Nutt's problems festered for 2-3 years as did Jackie's. Crooms' general problem was recruiting, but problems such as the ones listed above didn't take over until his final season.

You're forgeting one thing....Crxxms could recruit and Nutt couldn't. <-- there is your answer.
