Sometimes I wonder if an SEC job was too big for him at this stage in his career with his level of experience upon taking the job. This, obviously, is assuming Freeze was naive in his handling of everything. He had just 2 years at Ole Miss as an assistant and two at Arkansas State, one as an assistant one as a head coach, before going to Ole Miss. Can't really count Lambuth given they weren't even governed by the NCAA. That's literally the only thing I can think of if there's any merit to the "I didn't know" because all that would prove is he is too ignorant of how to run a program in a major coference and also make sure his compliance dept is on its Ps and Qs.
I tend to think he was a little more self aware than that and has been trying to save face, but just food for thought
He was originally brought in by a booster as a package deal with Oher and Hardy. And he owed his collegiate coaching career to said booster. After Nutt got ran out of town, I believe it was the boosters who wanted one of their guys in charge so they could be more involved in the program. Turns out they were maybe a little bit 'too' involved if the allegations are upheld.
eta: He might have been 'used' by the boosters or he might have known about it all along. But he was an easy sell to the fans because he's an aww-schucks, christian-values guy who ruffled some feathers. And the fans mostly ate that up.

Has any school cheated more than Ole Miss and not even had enough success (like SEC title) to benefit from it?

I'm aware of the Ole Miss win. You show me an article stating that cigars were smoked and I'll believe you

It took me less time to type this post than googling what you're asking for.

Tried to catch you cheaters for violating a Trade Embargo.
Unfortunately, according to OFAC, the statute of limitations is long past. I'll keep digging

Do you know if this years self-imposed bowl ban would count toward the 2 year bowl ban?

Just as a point of reference
- 1994 Ole Miss : 24 scholarships over 4 years (6 per year), 2 year bowl ban, 1 year TV ban
- 2000 Kentucky : 19 scholarships over 3 years (6.3 per year), 1 year bowl ban
- 2002 Alabama : 21 scholarships over 3 years (7 per year), 2 year bowl ban
- 2010 USC : 30 scholarships over 3 years (10 per year), 2 year bowl ban
- 2017 Ole Miss (rumored) : 25 scholarships over 4 years (6.3 per year), 2 year bowl ban
For the Sandusky incident(s) Penn State got...
Five years probation.
A four-year postseason ban.
Loss of a total of 40 initial scholarships from 2013 to 2017.

don't really care if you believe it or not. I watched him smoking it during the post game interview on national tv...

Me too man, and that's the god's honest truth. He was put there by boosters and it's likely that he will get buried by them too. And I think that the NCAA thinks that too, hence the classic definition of LOIC. You've got outside influences who are pulling the strings, and I think that's why they seem so vindictive. Not because they 'shook up the pecking order'.

That's definitely a good theory to it. And "shaking up the pecking order" may have had something to do with how schools treated us, but not the NCAA. If anything, our activity made their product better.

Your rumors are irrelevant. That might be what OM offers up. Ross Bjork is protecting HF because his job will be on the line too. They have had violations in multiple sports and i'm hearing that they are sniffing around the baseball program. Badork can't herd his flock and keep them inline... In any sport. It is gonna be fun watching Memphis University flipping their recruits.

Auburn fired Sonny Golloway for cause and he was cleared by the NCAA
Then again, our compliance/legal side of the AD is unparalleled

This level of hypocrisy is about as juicy as a perfectly cooked steak.
