Ok lets use your objective reasoning. I bet this does not last long. Miss lost to LSU with Treadwell. You think Miss is better than LSU without him? You think losing your biggest playmaker does not make your team worse? He is not coming back this year, thus Miss is not better than a team who has already beat them once with their best player.

The Ole Miss game was much closer than y'all are wanting to believe. LSU won and deservedly so, but Ole Miss could have won that game had a play or two gone their way.
The reasoning y'all are using would be like UM fans claiming they should have been ranked ahead of y'all last year since they won the head to head. Have to look at the whole picture and not just one game.
The whole picture is that LSU beat Ole Miss up and down the field and dominated them physically. That doesn't mean shite because football is about matchups. MSU stomped LSU because their QB was a complete mismatch for DJ Welter and Wilson couldn't be stopped by smaller DBs. An unranked team can have a much better chance at beating a top-5 team than a ranked team does based on matchups etc.
LSU and Ole Miss could play 10 times and LSU would probably win 7 or 8 because of the power run vs small defensive line. LSU and Louisville could play 10 times and LSU may be lucky to get 50%.

Every team in the country would be screaming if they beat someone, had the same record and was ranked behind the team they beat. Miss fans were screaming last week there was no way you could rank Bama ahead of them because they won. I agree Bama did not deserve to be ranked ahead last week.
Exactly!
Baylor should be ahead of OM as well.

Ole Miss and Bama was a little different. LSU looked bad on two different occasions. Committee will get it right if LSU wins this weekend, likely putting them at #9 or so.

So yeah. LSU could have beat state if one more play went their way. Does that change the fact we were soundly beat? No. And ole miss had plenty of plays go their way. Multiple turnovers on their side of the field while getting drove on.

So in theory a team could be picked #1 and lose every game by 1 point on the last play with one of their best players out each game. So using the eye test, how hard they played ,etc someone can argue they are still the best team. I know this is the extreme but its basically what many of you are arguing. Why do we even play? Lets just vote a champ every year without playing a single game. Just list your players. We could save lots of injuries this way. Yall may be onto something.

We also had plays go against us. Two touchdowns called back. One for a retarded holding penalty on our TE and one where our rb stepped an inch out of bounds. The game was just as close to being a blowout for OM as it was for LSU.

A computer wouldn't be able to literally look at the teams at this moment, and see that LSU is better. You would expect a committee of humans to do this.
Some computers can. Wolfe, a former BCS computer poll, did. Billingsley, another former BCS computer, did. LSU is ranked higher than Ole Miss in both. Billingsley has always sucked, but Wolfe's poll has always been pretty good.
And by the way I agree with the pissed LSU posters over this. It's flat out wrong in any circumstance to rank teams behind teams they have head to head victories over when they have similar records.
Yes, LSU got stomped by Auburn on the road. However, it was because they did something that wasn't too smart - starting a true freshmen on the road in the SEC for the first time vs. a top 10 team. That will almost always spell disaster for a team. I knew it was coming and was grateful for it.
LSU was better than the performance against Auburn. Once they fixed the issue and made the correct move of playing Jennings things got better.
You'd be surprised at how well some of those computer polls can correctly evaluate teams.

Nobody is arguing this. I'm arguing that you should look at total resume and not just head to head even if they have the same record.

Well it's not the same since we both have the same records right now.
I agree about looking at the whole picture, but you are giving Ole Miss the benefit of the doubt for plays they didn't make while not giving LSU credit for having the ball with a chance to score and win at the end of the MSU game ( and yes I realize this was a lopsided game we were lucky to be in at the end).

Absolutely not.
You scored anyway on one of those two touchdowns, and the other one was a blatant holding penalty that was rightfully called.
We spotted you guys 3 dropped picks, 4 turnovers of our own and multiple trips into the redzone with no points.
shite, just cut the LSU mistakes in half and we win by double digits.

so the narrative among rantards now is that LSU dominated us winning 10-7?
