thats basically how its going to be. Our logo is just going to be the script Ole Miss and the mascot is just for show on the field. We will still be the Rebels, we will just name our mascot rebel. It wont be like bama, having our mascot as our symbol. It will be more like Tennessee

I feel that will at least give a more accurate portrayal of the voters opinions. But this is embarrassing for Ole Miss.

Good for you. A lot more people need to stand up and be heard. Hell, enough of all this politically correct BS. Fire the GD people responsible for wanting to get rid the mascot, Rebel flags, Dixie and all that. Don't like it, then don't attend the school or go to games. Many other colleges in Mississippi and elsewhere. Can't believe that the OM fans/alums have let all the bleeding hearts do this to you. Weak. REAL weak!........

What is the whole selection process about if they are keeping the Rebel as a Mascot. I thought they were doing away with that all together hence the Blues Men etc.
I read back and now completely agree you guys are fricked. The whole thing is stupid.

I have to agree that half that list is awful, but maybe that was the point of the selection committee. If you had just three good choices then people would probably say, "that was all they could come up with." But if you have 11 and 8 are just terrible, then people will be more happy with the final selection. Just a thought.
The horse, eh, ok
The cardinal- makes sense, not very orignal or intimitdating.
Mojo- theres a lot of things you could do with this, but we arent looking for a new name, we're looking for a mascot. They didnt discribe what it would look like.
Landshark- yes this doesnt appeal to baskeball or baseball, but there arent mascots at baseball games and who cares about one being at basketball games. Landsharks have a lot of potential for marketing and would really solidify our commitment to having a solid front 7, especially DL. Jaws theme, fins up, landshark lagar, etc. And once again, a shark wouldnt be our logo. It would just be a character on the field.
Black Bears- my pick and I dont understand why it matters that Black bears arent in the oxford area. Once again we're the University of MS, not oxford. Its a great story and could easily be marketed. Plus a live black bear would be badass.

I bet the black bears ends up being it. And that's the only decent thing I see unless they decide to put a drunk acting Grover on the sidelines.

The name will be the next thing changed. I about guarantee it. Give it about 5 years, and Ole Miss won't be known as Rebels anymore. This mascot thing is one step closer for that.

I for one haven't grasped the concept because I couldn't care less what happens at Ole Miss. I only started to pay attention when someone posted a link that there was the possibility of Ole Miss having two muppets, a blues player, or a shark associated with them. That's hilarious and worthy of my attention. 1963.

I forgot about the lion. The only way this would be good is Iif you have a live lion on the field which would be cool. It doesn't matter to me that rebellion is the only thing linking us to a lion, it would still be ok. The egg bowl would be Cats vs dogs, it's pretty original (besides PSU), welcome to the jungle on opening kickoff would be badass
