Tubbs constantly complained about how bad it was used against us in recruiting. Cut also didn't care too much for it.

.....of course, Cut didn't care for or about too many things around here.

Well I know he complained about the Confederate flag (rightly so) as I used to have a letter he sent to all the season ticket holders asking them not to bring flags to the games. That's news to me about Col. Reb though.

I remember when all that was going on Deuce McAllister said col reb was special to him and Ole Miss and spoke up against banning him. Cool dude, even if he was a rebel.

OK who exactly had a problem with Col. Reb? I'm just curious. I know a HUGE number of Ole Miss people, and no one I know had a problem with Col. Reb

It wasn't Ole Miss people for the most part, although there were some. Clearly it wasn't the typical Ole Miss student or alumni that wanted the Colonel gone .

It was all the idiots perceiving him as a slave/plantation owner and using that miss-perception against us.

It was hurting us in recruiting, appeal, etc. and was an unnecessary liability.

You're just mad because you want the Colonel to keep making stupid people perceive us as racists... well played.

At least Ole Miss has the balls not to be the uber-unique "tigers" lolz

Everyone's so hung up on Hotty and Toddy because the idiots in the mascot committee used the term "muppet" in the description of the concept. They also said it could be a "pair of animals." People saying "VOTE FOR HOTTY AND TODDY LOL" either didn't read the description or have poor reading comprehension because all that concept = a NAMING concept. There is no description as to what Hotty and Toddy are.

My vote, two bearsharks named Hotty and Toddy on horseback.

i agree with hotty and toddy. It will give the rest of the SEC something to laugh at. Hotty should be a drunk sorority girl ina sun dress and Toddy should be a drunk fraternity guy in a baby blue pinstrip suit holding a bottle of jack daniels. They will both be screaming thta stupid phrase that nobody knows what it means.

Please select these 2 mascots, PLEASE!

Ok, but you still can't name anyone specifically.
I'm not saying it didn't hurt us in recruiting. I have just never heard any one person say in public they have a problem with Col. Reb. Oh well, he's gone now.

Of course you didn't. Coaches and others in important places didn't want to get booed out of whatever event they were speaking at. This was done mostly behind closed doors.

Well it has been seven years since the Col. has been gone. It seems that someone would have actually said publically this was a detriment by now. All of this is supposedly said behind closed doors. I've never even seen where a former coach commented on this, EVER. I've never seen anything in print. Nope , this is much ado about nothing.

Agreed...which is why it baffles me how some people all of the sudden are so upset about Col. Rebel not being our mascot.

This.

And what the hell is so wrong or detremental to getting drunk while wearing seersucker? If it's hot outside, I'm not about to wear a dark wool suit. Give me something light and cotton and I'll see y'all at the happy hour looking fly as frick.
