A good friend of mine down there just said it's true Alford is leaving. They requested his release.

Could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that there was an SEC rule which states a player cannot play professionally in one-sport while competing in the SEC.
If this is not true, then maybe Ole Miss should form a farm league team for the minors as a new way to pay players.

If it goes through he'll be a safety. Can't wait to see what he can do back there. He's got jets for feet and his baseball experience gives him a good ability to time catching a ball. Whoever gave him advice out of high school should be shot. Why the hell did he sign that contract to be a minor leaguer and college footballer?

I'm sure it's really easy to balance being the starting qb at a D1 school and playing minor league ball for the bluejays. And class on top of that. Other than that I see no problems at all.

I understand it would be tough, but it's not like he has to balance all three every single day. You, knowing his family situation and all I'm sure, would be willing to tell him it's dumb to take close a million that he may never see again in his lifetime?

If you play professional baseball and can't get your knob slobbed on, then I don't feel sorry for you.
