Just out of curiousity, who did Vaught recommend?
You know how sometimes you remember random bits of information no problem except for when someone asks for that information? Yeah....this is one of those times.
But our AD hired Bruiser Kinard because of him being an AA here back in the 30's.

Bob Tyler, I believe.
ah....that's him.
that being said....Bob Tyler didn't amount to much more than taking MSU to a 9 win season. But considering MSU back in that era, I guess it's saying a lot. He did have 2 straight 0-11 seasons a few years later. But the point is still proven that our AD completely went against Vaught.

He had some great seasons at State. But two of the seasons they went 0-11 because they had to forfeit the games, even though they won something like 8-10 games each of those seasons.

Yeah, the man had to have been a great coach. Winning at State like that back then was damn near impossible.

Billy Kinard. Now, I do think Bruiser acted as 'interim' head coach after Vaught's heart attack during the 1970 season.
Odd fact: neither Auburn nor Ole Miss were 'coached' by their head coach in the 1971 Gator Bowl (played on Jan 2 of that year).

I don't think anyone besides OM and State fans would disagree.
Have you ever won a National Championship in anything that matters? Nah, you haven't.
I mean, I guess you could throw Vandy in the mix, except that they don't have an athletic department. Oh, and their teams generally do better than yours.

Not dumping on them. Just telling the truth.

I hate to feed the troll, but he may have a point.
Below are current SEC schools by number of NCAA recognized national championships each school has won (doesn't include Division I-A championships as NCAA doesn't officially sanction that).
In order of championships:
Arkansas, 42
LSU, 42
Georgia, 26
Florida, 22
Tennessee, 14
Auburn, 14
Kentucky, 10
Alabama, 5
South Carolina, 3
Vandy, 1
Ole Miss, 0
Mississippi State, 0
Add in football and Ole Miss can claim 3 titles (1959, 1960 and 1962). Obviously Bama has a lot more in football.
But outside of football, nobody brings less championships to the table than Ole Miss and State.
So dude may have a point...
