Happy New Year to you as well!
And good point, I know PSU and OSU in particular are already huge presences on the east coast, I'll take your word on the others. Adding Rutgers and Maryland bumps all of those other Big 10 grads in the area up to the higher fee structure as well. Crafty mid-westerners.

Yes, and they were black. maybe take a history class?
edit...
and FTR, Oklahoma wasn't even a state at the time of the civil war, so by definition cannot be southern.

SEC's last two moves were for markets(Tx and Mo), and recruiting access.
The next moves don't need to happen anytime soon, and shouldn't until the cord-cutting and tv market intangibles become clearer in coming years..
And when does, it will still be the wealthy and populous North Carolina and Virginia markets, not lower Middle America barren Indian nation wastelands.
OU has tradition & brand, it has many great programs and wins. The state is great lb for lb(Jenks,etc..), but isn't a recruiting hotbed, OU is almost an Dallas defacto football program that utilizes Tejas to excel.
Okla has 3.9M people, up only 900K in in the last 36 years! Va and NC have grown by over a million each of the last two decades.
I love OKC & Tulsa, but the rest is barren. I have nothing against OU, were always my fav school of the Big-8, or when paired vs Texas or TAM,etc. Just see it as welfare for OU by the SEC at this point.
Whenever the next move is(hopefully ages from now), it needs to be Mid-Atlantic, population, wealth, academia, hoops pedigree programs, recruiting bases, closer proxy to upper Eastern seaboard to sell hoopsters on SEC,..
I'm glad that the SEC isn't a pro-active predator in these silly shifts like Jim Delaney is..but rather a conservative and respectful Southerner to fellow conferences.

Basically what I get out of this thread are the insecurities of the abused faithful of Misery and Aggy.
For Aggy to bring up 41-13, congrats! That's your program's biggest accomplishment since 1998! What has that prestigious Cotton Bowl trophy done for you since? Fact is, 77-0 will forever haunt Aggy.
OU in the SEC would be fun. They would be a viable replacement for either Texas Junior College in CS or Misery.
And I don't speak for some of the other OU fans on here regarding OU owning the SEC. Yes, it's nice having wins over Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn under Stoops. But the majority who are sane, like me, still remember 0-2 as those were for the national title.

They play like an SEC team, have a storied past, only like 1 hour from Fayetteville, Arkansas and maybe 3 from Mizzou. I'm sure they would jump at the chance to join in.
Better yet, just send Mizzou and Arky to join the Fighting Mixons.
Problem solved.

Dropping Mizzou for OU would not change the tv package one iota, since all the haters in Missouri and Texas would still tune in to cheer against OU in the SEC. Moreover, OU and Texas could keep the Red River Rivalry as a non-conference matchup as well as the Bedlam game. The three Florida programs all played in different conferences at one point, and the same can be said about Clemson and So. Car, or Georgia and GT.
Texas and OU were in different conferences for much of our history, and it is highly unlikely that UT would give up on the Red River Rivalry because OU left and enabled Texas to go independent.

I don't care what teams are in what conference. I would prefer that each major conference had the same number of teams and followed a similar set of scheduling rules.

The comment about Culture and Academics is not true, according to Boren, not going to the SEC was all about the fact that Okie Lite was not part of the package. LINK

What part of Oklahoma, exactly, do you consider Southern or Eastern?
Well Norman, OK is farther south (by far) than Columbia Missouri and Lexington Kentucky and it just barely west of College Station, so.....yeah.

This is laughable.... real reason for this quote:
OU Vs. Missouri
Games: 96
Record: 67-24-5 (72%)
In fact they have played 43 times in my lifetime, Missouri has won 5 games, all in Columbia.
