Remember when Lincoln Riley packed up for the west coast in 2022, leaving Oklahoma high and dry? The righteous indignation directed at Riley from OU faithful was palpable and seemingly deserved. Even I was tempted to feel some level of sympathy for the Sooners.

I should have known better. 3 years later, after villifying Riley and sentencing him to Sooner purgatory, Oklahoma hypocritically followed his example.

Washington State, already reeling from the Pac 10 breakup, pieced together a bowl season this year. Their reward? Oklahoma hires their OC so they can get their quarterback. Sound familliar? This resulted in Washington State losing their head coach yesterday.

All is fair in love, war and college football, especially with the portal. Just
be wary of those that feign injury only to celebrate when they do the exact same thing.

This wasn't "the same thing"....

First, OU fans weren't pissed at USC... they were pissed at Riley for misleading everybody when he said "he wasn't going to LSU"...like a half hour before he signed on with USC.

It's also not the same because...

And OU took a coordinator... not the head coach... and the coordinator made the move because it was an upgrade for him. There is not a coach in history that wouldn't have made the move from WSU to Oklahoma,

It is also not the same because Mateer entered the portal after the season not long after the portal opened. Caleb Williams waited until after the bowl game. And OU fans felt like he was going to stay because of that. So they were upset when he decided to leave at the eleventh hour and leave OU with no QB (since Rattler bailed after the season).

And finally... when all that stuff happened... this portal stuff was new. Fans are used to it now and a lot less inclined to get worked up about all this stuff.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the portal after the playoff games. See what the reaction is of fans regarding players who jump in the portal then.

But Texas has a real coach...that was a head coach before last year. Even if yall has the same level of talent...Sark is better than your guy who's learning on your dime how to be a head coach.

Coordinators come and go, but stinking Riley was scared of the SEC. I'm sure there is a difference in there somewhere. No different with any school losing a coach. Stop being hypocritical!

This is what people wanted. It's not fair to kids to have rules and limits, nothing good ever comes of such things...apparently.
