The one other non tebow year they were mediocre.

So they won a mediocre national championship in 2006 with Chris Leak starting?

ETA: Yeah, I know you were talking about 05, but still...

1. Tebow was just THAT good.
2. Florida's recruiting has been overrated.

These two things. Urban Meyer has won big everywhere he's been. The man has a legitimate case for being the best CFB coach in America. I'm just not that impressed with the talent on Florida's team right now.

I agree....it's a typical knee jerk reaction from people who don't know much about football.

Florida will be fine. They may be at the 9 win mark, but that is still good in a minor rebuilding year for them. You just don't win every game, every year.

we just won on thursday night because of the defense and in spite of the offense.

You are also assuming that all head coaches somehow meddle with and directly impact, for the better, their offenses. That's simply not the case; especially not with a former DC as your HC. They can insist upon a certain style of offense, and they certainly hire accordingly, but it would be taking it too far to give Chizik credit for this offense now or blaming him for it if they take a nosedive.

The best you can hope for out of your HC is that he is very good on one side of the ball, is a great recruiter, and has a great eye for coaching talent. Even so, turnover happens, injuries happen, schedules set up poorly, et cetera.

I agree. But they will struggle some this year.

Replacing a player the caliber of Tebow with a 1st year starter = it will take time. Bottom line that Florida is not a top 10 team right now. They are having to replace to many key players. Bama fans should take notes. Bama will win tonight, but they WILL drop a few SEC games this year!
