Georgia Tech is still the top academic institution in Georgia.

Actually, no. Emory is.

Maybe. Maybe not. They weren't BEFORE he went to Tech. Other than their academic restrictions, I'm not sure what their problem is. Stanford seems to do well with academic restrictions. Tradition? I think a combination of facilities, lack of student support, and in the middle of Atlanta...those may be what holds Tech back.

Depends on what you are going for. I actually think Emory's reputation has taken a slight hit lately. I know there was a bit of a hub bub about them dropping some programs/majors. GA Tech and Emory are both very good schools though.

Also the whole GA Tech salary statistic may be a little misleading because I think Tech only offers something like 36 undergrad majors, with the majority being STEM.

Seriously? You lost your credibility right there. I will be sure to pass along to several of my friends that never went to Tech they you said they are not fans.

I just hate the 3 or 4 different colors of gold you see.

Agreed. But I usually see that on sweatshirts and stuff like that. It's hard to get the true gold on those...if not impossible.

Not true, since Tech hasn't had overwhelming success in football in a while, it is just natural to want to see your neighbor not do well either.

Not all...but most of the ones I know. I used to ride to work with a guy that ALWAYS said they would rather see Ga. lose than Tech win. And this was echoed by many other Tech fans. I never could understand it fully....but on another level, I guess I did.

Georgia Tech is a fine school. One of the best in the country for Engineering. I'm not sure about the other majors, though.

Berry, at one time, was ranked third in the state for difficulty. Behind Emory and Georgia Tech. I'm betting that has changed now, though.

You very well could be right. I have to admit, that I am basing what I say on slightly dated material....ok...VERY dated.

You are right, though. Tech and Emory are great schools. You can't go wrong with either for a good education.

I didn't care for the speech, personally. It seemed hokey.....BUT, you have to take it for what it was. It was supposed to be over the top and humorous.

Hopefully things will turn around with the signing of the best OLineman from GA this past summer. I still dont see how Tech will get top recruits running the TO. I see ton of Tech flags & tags in Fayetteville/Peachtree City..more than UGA. Its a shame they cant get all these kids in the area from Sandy Creek & the other good HS programs on the southside.

They got Calvin Johnson from SCHS but they let UT & Ole Miss come & get the best players from Sandy Creek.

as far as best schools in GA I say
Tech
Emory
UGA
Morehouse/ Morehouse School of Medicine
Southern Poly
& the rest

Having grown up in Georgia, I have a soft spot for the Techies, and think it's hilarious that they embrace most of the insults that UGA fans throw at them.

It's a shame that they're not a more major player in their state than they are. I'm no Clemson fan, by any stretch of the imagination, but there's no reason that Tech can't be as relevant in Georgia as Clemson is in SC, or FSU is in Florida. Yet, for whatever reason, the majority of your sidewalkers in Georgia gravitate towards UGA, Auburn, Florida, etc., and completely forget about Tech.

Oh well. Maybe the right coach can come along and build a legitimate rival to UGA's supremacy in the state. 'til then, at least GT has the best fight song in the country.

So 5 star #1 overall player in NC is Rivals #201?

Because he didn't commit to Bama?
