I don't know how an owner hasn't snatched you up as a GM yet. One of those fools would have taken Howard in the second round. 6'6" and runs like a fricking wildebeest but Irons Puppet hasn't seen him catch a ball in a crowd

I mean, Eric Ebron was the #10 overall pick in 2014. If OJ Howard played in the offense Ebron played in he'd have 3 1,000 yard seasons.

If Miles doesn't have a different offensive plan, it will be more of the same. I would like to see LSU win, but running up the middle every play probably won't work.

Neither has anyone else. So you think he is coming back to try and improve his draft position one round and risk injury. You need to get a fricking clue.

wouldn't be a bama thread without some salty arse aubs crying their eyes out in it.

Um, yea, I do. The difference in being a mid-2nd round pick and a mid-1st round pick is about double or triple the guaranteed money. It's kind of a huge deal.
Jonathan Allen is doing the same thing.

Thought Allen had a first round grade?

What don't you get about him having great meaurables? He's an athletic 6'6" 242Ibs TE, runs a 4.4-4.5 forty, got decent hands, and he's good blocker. It's about the potential he has to be good. That's why he was rated by several scouts and draft boards as the no. 2 TE in the draft. I mean Jimmy Graham played 1 year of CFB and caught 17 passes but was still drafted in the 3rd round because of his measurables.

NFL advisory gave him 2nd round. Difference between late first and Top 12 is close to double.

Really no need to bother explaining that to somebody clueless enough to not already understand it.

I agree with you. With the way the new contracts and money is decided there is a huge difference between first and second round money,,
OJ needs more help than Allen, but I agree they are coming back to improve their draft status. I doubt either would've stayed if they didn't think they could.

Yea, and it all has to do with potential to rise. Some guys are at their max. Derek Henry and A'Shawn Robinson are not going to improve their draft stock any no matter what they do next year.
Allen and OJ can become "the guys" and put a lot more stuff on tape next season. Of course there is the potential downside of injury, but they both have to feel pretty good about their potential to move up even 7-8 spots and improve their guaranteed money by $3-4M. That's a big deal.
Lawson at Auburn is probably the very best example of this. Sure, he could have left, would have been drafted somewhere decent and probably (if healthy) could have been a solid NFL player. But he wouldn't make real money until his 2nd contract which he would have to earn. If he shows up next year and has a huge year he will go from $2.5M guaranteed to $8-10M guaranteed.

Agree completely and I suspect both will be given insurance towards injuries.

It would be hard to turn down a guaranteed 8 million. Too many injuries in football to take the chance on sustaining a season or career ending injury and losing half or all. Just too big of a gamble.

Yep - not to mention finishing off the degree. Hope all of them, Lawson, Howard and Allen, stay healthy and have big years.

Bull shite , not with the new rookie salary structure. If you can, you turn pro early, so you are one year closer to your second contract. Ask Lattimore or Gurley about the risk of injury.

I agree, but Allen's draft grade was 2nd round. That is more like $3-5M, in comparison to a possible $9-11M.
It's a risk, but it's a life changing type decision. That's why it is so funny (and sad) to see idiots mad at these guys either way on these things. Imagine making that type of decision and weighing those risks. That's tough for anyone led alone a 21 year old.
