Have you been to BR? That wiki page counts the population of all or parts of 9 different parishes. BR has 230,000 and it feels no larger except the horrible traffic.

shite, a mile South of campus heading towards bluebonnet and you're driving in the country

I really doubt it has more than Lexington, either.

Lexington is a city of 400,000. CS has 100,000.

Bryan/College Station has a shade under 170,000 people. Northgate alone has about 30 bars not counting all the other bars in College Station and Bryan

Dickson Street has at least 25 places to drink within 4 blocks of the edge of Old Main Lawn. Plus midrise luxury condos, a big performing arts center, galleries, and several good restaurants. Walk another 3 blocks off Dickson and you hit 5-6 more bars and 5-6 more good restaurants on and around the Town Square.

Fayetteville has a lot of good scenery, parks, cool neighborhoods, and lots of good local food places outside of the Dickson area.

I've been to a lot of college towns and I'll put Fayetteville up against just about any of them. I think Fayetteville is pretty underrated because nobody has ever been here.

Definitely going to try to make it to Fayetteville for a football game or baseball series. Unless Sunhog posts Fayetteville pics in here

Dickson has a soul. George's Majestic Lounge turned 85 years old yesterday. My parents danced in the beer garden in the 60s and it was already 40+.

That's an old-arse college bar. It opened in 1927 as George's Majestic Cafe & Bar.

UARK Bowl was around back then, too. Not sure how old it is, but I know my parents went to functions and dances on the upstairs patio in the mid 60s.

Roger's Rec has been around since then, too:

Her famous words until she died. I remember it like yesterday.

That's actually a parking structure. Wal-Mart has been testing their small urban concept in that building, but its a small 3000 Sq ft storefront.
