Agreed. Louisiana does food better than anywhere else in the US. Yes, you can find better restaurants in big cities, but there is no better local food than here.

I've lived in five states and traveled to twenty-odd others. And everywhere I've tried what passed locally as quote "good Louisiana cooking" unquote has invariably disappointed me.

Usually not enough spice for my taste, or in the case of red beans and rice, just not prepared properly.

I know better than to trust any "Louisiana" places not in Louisiana.

What can I say, I was truly desperate.

I know false hope when I see it. It sucks worse than the desperation.

Believe me, I've learned my lesson. Never again, not even if someone else is footing the bill.

A girl friend in California took me out to a so-called "Cajun" restaurant in San Jose. She was raving about every dish, and all the while I was wondering if I should tell her it tasted like cardboard to me.

I finally told her something along the lines of "It's right up there with the best Louisiana cooking I've had outside of the state, honey!"

The burden of knowledge makes things tough.

the campus isn't very pretty at all. (Way too flat, and not nearly enough trees.) The scraggly arse live Oaks with the Palmetto trees just doesn't look good. Place looks kinda like what you would expect on a savannah

I was not sure whether you were comparing lsu to a savannah to mean the flat, mostly treeless plain (which is just plain inaccurate and stupid) or whether you were referring to savannah, the town (which would be a good comparison).

Brewbachers: burger place that is right off campus as well. IMO best burger in baton rouge.

I would at least say Raoul's.

Don't forget Ninfas on Corporate. My favorite for Mexican food although Serrano's is always fun after the game if you can get a table. Also the Spanish Moon is one of my favorite bars. It's chilled out, usually has good music, and has bars upstairs and down.

while I most definitely agree with you, there are people on the OT that think only "freaks and weirdos" go to the spanish moon.

and that's fine, they can keep thinking that.

it's better that those kind of closed minded people stay away from one of my favorite bars.

Brightside bar and grill: I like this place based on it having a patio so you can sit outside and drink.

If you want to suggest a nice bar with a good patio The Bulldog is much better than Brightside. I went to BBG for the first time a few weeks ago and just as I suspected all these years I had not been missing out on anything.

Dude just proved my point. All those pictures are from the prettiest parts of LSU's campus. Which are very pretty.

yeah, the bama fans can keep their asses at shitty walkons as far as i'm concerned.

the varsity is actually a GREAT place to catch an away game at.

like a 30 ft HD projection screen and 10 dollar all you can drink draft beer for the duration of the game.
