So my question is: Do you believe being in man coverage on Randle is better than allowing LSU to gain a few yards on the edge?
Both defenses have kept big plays to a minimum all year, but IMO you take your lumps on the option attack instead of leaving JJ with a seemingly wide open Randle once he beats the man coverage.
What say you, bama fans?
I say Bama's D needs to play just like it did in the 1st game, nothing wrong with the D performance. LSU scored 6 in regulation and 3 in OT - it's not going to get much better than that for Bama's D. LSU averages like 40 a game in their other games.
Bama's offense and special teams are the units that need to step it up and make some plays. The missed FGs, bad KOs, failed punt return, stupid offensive penalties that stalled a couple of drives, etc. are what lost the game. It certainly wasn't the defensive gameplan or execution.

Try not to get any 12 men in the huddle penalties

No need to explain, LSU is not GA Southern. Bama has played LSU this year, that is the matchup for the title game, not GA Southern.
No kidding?
So LSU and Ga. Southern didn't prove that those 1st Rd. LB's cant run outside the tackles??

Exactly. LSU and Alabama are both great teams and they will still be great and tough for each other to beat in the BCSCG. You have to tighten up your own game and not shoot yourself in the foot if you want to have any chance of beating the other team. These teams don't need any help to beat you.

8 pages and counting, some of our fans will never learn...

Coaching was the difference in the game. LSUs ability to adapt mid game and find something that worked is what got them the victory. Making the quesobackers run laterally like that is not something Bama can "improve upon" for the next game. Sure they can try to scheme around it, but they aren't shedding any pianos in only a few weeks

I read the OP, and I have a good idea of what the following 8 pages look like, unfortuneatly, it's too late in the thread for me to hop in and flame. I'll sit this one out.

Bama is not playing GaS, they are playing LSU.
When Bama played LSU this year, LSU averaged 3.5 ypc. Since LSU lives by the run on offense, I consider 3.5 ypc a good showing by the Bama D.

Go back and watch how successful bama was at stopping Michael Ford, even when he was running up the middle on non-option plays. Bama shut down the slow Spencer Ware toss dive up the gut but so has everyone else since 11/5 also. The threat of Ford's speed to the outside also opened up the middle for enough room for him to convert first downs when needed.
LSU only stalled when Ware was in and some of that was due to T Bob getting blown up at OG. When LSU got the ball on the bama 15 after the Claiborne INT, T Bob single handedly killed the drive by letting his man make two tackles in the backfield in a row. He has lost pretty much all of his PT now and I'm sure the coaches' pet thing will go out the window with the national title on the line.
Ware was the bell cow at the time, he clearly is no longer. Now what?

I guess that is fair since Ware and Saban have both had the same amount of opportunities to win a NC.

U mad

Saban has six weeks to prepare for the option and the option attack is rarely effective when you have time to prepare for it. Ask Georgia Tech or or even Tom Osborne whose Nebraska teams used to get regularly raked over the coals in big bowl games because their offense always got bottled up

Really? Why would a Bama fan be mad. Bama is in the the title game for the second time in three years. Great time to be a Bama fan.
