Sorry, I'm not a sunshine pumper.
I am calm.
Saying our offense looked great, or even good is a stretch. We gave the ball away 3 times tonight. That is cause for concern, especially if we see it again next weekend.
1 of the turnovers had no contact, 1 was just poked out. Both are from lack of concentration and not focusing.
From the get go, this team lacked focus tonight. That needs to change, and in a hurry. Alabama is 1 game away now.

Btw...When the frick did all Arkansas fans become so lovie dovey?
I post on here all the time, and I'm pretty fricking open minded about everything. Ill be damned if I done post what I saw tonight and act like nothing was wrong.

This is what I'm concerned about. That kind of thing can make things go south fast, especially against Bama, LSU, etc.

Its the first game, obviously there's things that are wrong. Next game we'll see if those thing have been corrected. If not then there's reason for concern.

Most definitely.
I realize Wingo is going to Wingo, but there was no excuse for Wilson.
We can't afford to give teams gifts. Our defense isn't good enough to rely on with a short field.

I don't think too many people care in Week 1.
If they aren't correct in practice this week and show up again in Week 2, then you have a problem.
Week 1 fumbles or sloppy play happens all over the country.
I wouldn't expect Wilson to just lose the ball like that in midseason form.

What happened to bama?
Did they call off the dogs?
They looked like a pro team in the 1st half and now Michigan has won the 2nd half.. well at least they tied it

Matt Jones ?@NWAMatt
John L. Smith said he expects receiver Cobi Hamilton to be able to play next week against Louisiana-Monroe.

I just got home a bit ago and there is a team that comes to the hill in two weeks that isn't making mistakes in their first game.
Yes, there is a slight reason for concern, because mid season form that you speak of, is the game after the next.

41-14 Bama
I guess I don't get what you're saying

I guess it's a good thing we didn't open with Bama. Those mistakes can be corrected but I hate to see it in ANY game, for whatever reason. Gives me flashbacks of the So. Cal. game when Felix had 3 fumbles. I hate those kind of mistakes. However, I was pleased with the play calling by Paul Petrino. I bet he'll have them focusing on the ball in their sleep this week.
Had a friend in high school who fumbled 2 or three times in a game and had to carry a football to all his classes...everywhere...even to the bathroom.

I don't know what it was but I'm not really worried.
Our secondary is really suspect.
Tank is a liability in coverage, The OL is weak. Tyler is dialed in. Gragg is a beast. BMitch might be an NFL receiver if he can catch the ball in traffic. Knile looks good. We can't afford to not have Cobi, the young WR's looked good but we've got to have his playmaking out there.
CB's are gonna have to improve real quick. I don't think we'll see another offense that is as diverse as JSU so preparation should be a little tighter.
The eyeball test showed on D we've got a long way to go. There are some playmakers but the run D is still soft up the middle and the corners are underperforming in a bad way. Rasner is a real bright spot out there. I think the D will get it together but we don't have 1/2 the season, they need to be playing at a near peak level in 2 weeks.

Paul called a gret game. The Oline got great push on running plays. Brandon looked good at WR as well.
There were some good things that happened tonight. I just hate to see lack of focus mistakes. All that has been fed to the media, etc, was how focused this team was this year. It wasn't there tonight. Mental mistakes, poor showing directly after halftime when we should have put that team away.

Yea, the last part of your post is my main concern.
We don't have 4 weeks until Bama comes to town. Daddy comes to town after next week.
Darius Winston had an excellent camp....How many times did we hear this?

quote:He's a bit more pass-heavy than Bobby was, but he's also more aggressive with his pass plays. Bobby ran a lot of underneath and slant stuff with Wilson. Not so much with Mallett, but maybe that's Wilson just being more confident in the long-ball this year.
Paul called a gret game.

It was good to see Paul on the sideline. On defense, I do think their tackling fundamentals showed some improvement as well, like in the Kansas State game.
