That's my mistake..but that begs the question then why are we bowing Hart if he didn't even fire him?

Kinda glad he's gone in fact
If he's not gonna stick through a bad roster and think to himself "frick it I can coach these guys to surprise some people next year" then yeah he doesn't need to be here. He'd shut up 99 percent of the haters, won over all the fans (some writing open apologies), and had a clean slate for next year with most of the vocal fans knowing full well the roster situation and instead of trying to do something got out of town. Not a bad choice for his job security since a new school guarantees him four more years at least but not the kind of cocksure, 'I will win here no matter what I face or what you say', attitude that we need in a coach.
I just hope we don't end up with a bad hire. I think CCM had potential to build something here and was growing as a coach but next year was going to take away a lot of that momentum.

Martin was trying to force Hart to give him a raise and extension when all of the Marquette talk was going on. Hart called his bluff.

I'll admit I've never been a Tennessee fan. However, growing up they had Woodruff as AD, Dickey/Battle/Majors as football coaches, Mears and DeVoe as basketball coaches. Plus they seemed to win an inordinate amount of 'future revenue' championships. Then even with Dickey as AD and Fulmer in football and Green (sort of) in basketball , UT athletics were almost the model for the SEC.
Now they are the model for what NOT to do.

Which isn't a surprise. One thing about Hart is the man is a little dictator who runs the AD with an iron fist and doesn't like anyone making waves let alone a bball coach trying to bluff him. That dictatorial nature has pushed out some good people but it was necessary to clean out some of the bad apples in the athletic dept. that needed to go in order to rebuild the AD itself. Hart's attitude is a mixed bag - just hope he doesn't screw this up and hire a bad coach.

On the other hand...you don't think it's a little embarrassing to start a thread applauding your AD because a coach left?

I gotcha. He may deserve a teeny tiny golf clap for not caving, but bow-worthy? C'mooooon, all hart did was be the recipient of incredibly good fortune that cuonzo tried to be ned negotiator for some reason

Wait a second here, so you guys are glad Martin is gone? That doesn't even make sense.
I wouldn't say I'm glad but I'm definitely apathetic, I just don't care either way
And FTR I'm not bowing at Hart, that would be Volfan BUT if it was extension/raise or Martin goes to cal then cya

You gotta understand Volfan30's hatred of Cuonzo. It's right up there with my hatred of Dooley

Mike Hamilton (the guy who got rid of Fulmer then hired Kiffin and Dooley) is the man who drove into the ground. Hamilton is good human being, a great fundraiser, but he was absolutely horrible at managing the AD. I don't think he did anything other than hang out with donors and he never actually bothered overseeing the depts he ran. Add on to that we had too many inside hires throughout the dept. that didn't need to be there (I'm talking about the names no one knows but have important jobs). When Hart arrived we needed a thorough cleansing and unfortunately a few good employees got caught up in his mission to clean out the bad ones.
ETA: And the women's AD was still a model. Unfortunately the men's AD was so fricked up they merged the women's with men's just to make the men's look better.

I am happy for Tennessee fans. Sucks for my team, Mizzou, that you guys might get a better coach now. It is amazing how many people think 2 wins in the NCAA make you a good coach.
That line if thinking is what got Illini in trouble. Look at them now.

Ppl never have paid attention to the fact how relatively easy our three win path to the sweet 16 actually was

This is a horrible time to be hiring a coach, they pretty much have to hire someone who isn't currently coaching.
