The wildcard in the Arkansas hire is the NFL. Is there another Tomlin, Dungy, Cowher type assistant there tired and wants to be in NFL Lite

I would like to see Ken Norton Jr get a chance at a HC gig. He adds credibility to program with AA status as Player, 3 SB wins as player, 2 NC's as a assistant and playoff appearance as coach.

Jeff Long is not a southerner I doubt he will again roll the dice on a hire as he did with Petrino, infact he may go in the opposite direction and hire a play by the rules square.

Have an interim coach for the year. Find your guy at the end of the season.

I would think they would go with the interim, you do realize any coach willing to bounce in the spring from their current gig is going to extort a king's ramsom and an iron clad deal that pays him for the next five years no matter what

Mariucci? McDaniels?

quote:

Arkansas: Sources tell me that former San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions head coach Steve Mariucci is interested in the Arkansas head coaching job.

quote:

Yet another source tells me that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would be willing to talk if contacted by Long.

I worked my sources hard this weekend and nobody has anything for me, when things are this quiet means something big is going down.

Yeah, the only question I have is whether he has the connections down south and will fit culturally. He's never coached in the south before; he was born and raised in Michigan.

I watched a high school or college all star game that he coached in not long ago, and I loved his attitude with the players. His offensive background makes him a good fit with our current pro-style system.

The ties with him aren't that important due to his public visibility. He would keep Horton probably because of connections. If its someone else, they need a tie to the SEC, for obvious reasons.

Calipari didn't have a lot of ties in the south before he took the Memphis job.

Maybe they will get the right guy. We got a name out of left feild who seems to have the perfect personality to steer us thru toxic waters.

I was 100 % pro DC Tom Bradley (until Al Golden) but I now see what Dave Joyner saw in Bill O'Brien.
