So it is the local newspaper's fault that Louisville fans care a lot more about getting to the Final 4 and playing Kentucky in a semifinal game than spring practice for a 7-6 football team? He is being really childish.

Oh I completely agree he is being childish but I am just saying he is right that they really aren't covering it at all. I couldn't even find any full stats from either of the two scrimmages so far.

Has Bret Bielema been mentioned yet? Doubt he would leave Wisconsin though.

What about Mike Stoops? He had some decent success out in Arizona; made them respectable and they were awful when he arrived.

Someone just mentioned Mike Sherman.

He won't. He was hand picked and groomed to succeed Alvarez.

Yeah, what a shock that a coach with major Arkansas ties would heavily recruit that state. The nerve of him.

It wasn't the recruiting that was the problem. It was how they went about the recruiting. $$$$$$ to Dyer. $$$$ to Walt 'the whale' Williams to steer Frazier. It was shady and dirty.

Fuuuuuuuuuck Gus. I would LMAO tho if BP ends up at Shiloh, and Gus at Arkansas. It'd be cray.

Auburn was recruiting Arkansas very well long before Gus arrived.

I really, really want to stay pro style. Biggest thing I am going to miss about Petrino was the constant talk about how he was one of the only coaches in college to teach a full pro WR route tree and utilize it in a game.

This we HAVE to keep the same philosophy, the same practice pace and habits, the same vision, the same furious commitment to the goal. Wholesale changes would be the worst thing imho.

I'd like to see us make a run at Gundy just for shits and giggles. I hate OSU so f'n much, and I've paid tuition through the nose to those frickers. Garrick, would be bad mojo but he deserves an interview, he'd probably be the guy that could keep us on the same velocity to success.

Kodi Burns and Ziemba? Can't think of another Aubie starter from Arkansas in the last 20 years.

It's 1:40 and H-ville is still crashing.

Gundy would be good. He would get his shot at LSU.

I assume Leach has already been mentioned? He's at WSU right? That's no place for a pirate - pirates belong on a flagship

Going undefeated in the Big 12 at OSU is a lot easier than winning the SEC at Arkansas. Arkansas is a step up from Ok St, but Gundy would be smart to stay at OSU until an even bigger job than Arkansas opened up like Florida .

I may be crazy but I think Butch Davis would be a home run hire. He is an Arkansas alum with strong ties to Dallas, an elite recruiter, defensive minded, and has loads of experience at the college and NFL level. This is the guy who recruited what is probably the most talented team in the history of NCAA football while facing crippling NCAA sanctions from his predecessor. Sure he had NCAA issues at UNC, but none of those were found to have been orchestrated by Davis and the NCAA levied no penalties against him personally. He would almost certainly keep the pro style offense and toughen up the D considerably.

Thank you, someone else actually agrees with me. I would be so stoked if we hired Davis. He is the only name out there that really excites me and we could have him immediately. Seems like a no brainer.

Unfortunately, Long will probably be so turned off by his sordid past that we won't even talk to him.

I don't know. My read on Long is that he's very competitive. To keep raising Petrino's salary, launch that huge investment into the facilities, and raise donations, it shows he's willing to push the program hard. He just had to draw the line with Petrino in this instance, and you could tell it hurt him like hell. I think Long is a just man with integrity, but I could see him willing to overlook Davis' past in order to seize that quality of a coach.

The NFL All-Pro team is basically a whose who of players Butch Davis coached. He could go into any living room in the SEC, especially Texas/Florida and recruit head to head with Saban or Miles. You would actually see 5 star defensive tackles and linebackers coming to Fayetteville. Long needs to say screw the perception and hire the best coach available which is easily Butch Davis. I would put Davis as the 2nd or 3rd best coach in the SEC if you guys hire him. You can't possibly beat that with any other candidate.

Davis would be a hell of a hire. Hog fans would have made Long AD for life 4 years ago if he landed Davis. If we could get Davis now and have him commit to a version of Petrino's offense then I actually think we could be pretty legit. The only downside to Davis' tenure at UNC imo was that his offenses were pretty bad.

Maybe Klenakis could stay on as OC and install the Nevada pistol O with Brandon Mitchell at QB (in 2013 of course)? A more run-oriented team with better defense. I wouldn't complain.

This would be ideal imo. Like I posted in another thread. I think Klenakis was next in line to be OC until Paul fell back in to our laps. Klenakis was OC at Nevada and I have to think that Petrino made some sort of succession plan pitch to him to get him to leave and take a position coach job because the pay wasn't that much different. He knows the offense and should be able to step in and give us a nice mesh of the Petrino power spread offense and the Ault pistol offense.

Target 1 -- Chris Petersen

2. Charlie Strong
3. Art Briles
4. Garrick McGee
5. Mark Mangino (for lulz)
6. Jim Tressel
7. NFL AC #1 (Perry Fewell)
8. NFL AC #2 (Bill Musgrave or Winston Moss)
9. David Cutcliffe
10. NFL AC#3 (Jim Caldwell or Jim Leavitt)

I still want my Bobby Petrino. There are some options, Long better not screw this up.

ETA: I don't really consider Butch Davis, there has been scuttlebutt about him for years and never once been any evidence there was serious interest from him that I've seen. Don't think he wants to come back to NWA.
