So he had nothing to do with that win or upsetting LSU last year??

Yes, he had a part in the wins in Austin in 2003 and LSU in 2007, but you made it sound like Nutt was the only reason why we won.

The majority of the posters on here don't act like it. There is more talk about Nutt than your new coach. If you were really happy you would think that is what you would be talking about.

The coach like the QB gets the glory or catches the hell.

Yall just can't get over it can you? Hes not your coach anymore and im sure yall are happy with Petrino but just give it up, really. He coaches at Ole Miss now, you got yourself a pass happy coach and now you can ride off into the sunset watching replays of the last second comeback thrillers against Western Illinois and LA Monroe.

Seriously. Whatever the circumstances might be Nutt got Arkansas to the sec championship game three times in ten years didn't he?

That's pretty impressive when you share a division with three programs that are better than you (bama, auburn, lsu)

Not to beat a dead horse, but here is some funny Q/A with James Shiebest @ OM

Q. Tell us your philosophy on punt returns?

Sheworst: I don't understand the question. Can you rephrase it?

Q. When the opponent punts the ball to Ole Miss, what do you look for and how do you set your return team?

Sheworst: I still don't understand the use of the term "return" but let me answer your question this way. We coach our line to get out of the way as quickly as possible to allow the opponent to run down the field as fast as they can. This will pay dividends in the 4th quarter when they wear down. Next, we tell the catcher to throw his hand up high into the air. Of course, if you are in the championship game and the punt goes inside our 10 yard line, we will pull out the old "muff" play. They never expect that one. It takes a while to coach them up here and get them out of some bad habits they had in high school. When we select our catcher in Spring ball, it seems that most of the kids have a habit of trying to advance the ball but we have been extremely successful in breaking them of that habit.

Q. Let's move on to field goals. Can you give us some insight there?

Sheworst: Again, it starts early...when they are in high school. We try to totally ignore field goal kickers in the recruiting process. Save those schollies in order to get some big, fast downfield blockers on offense or a bus driver or a huddle coordinator.

Q. O.K. Maybe it would be best if we talked about the offense last week. Can you comment about the play of Jevan Snead? He seems to be an accurate thrower with a strong arm.

Sheworst: Yes, but we will get that corrected in practice. Coach Nutt has seen this tendancy and, believe me, there is no one in college football that can coach that out of a player better.

Q. Huh?

Sheworst: You're just going to have to give our staff some time. We could have got that fixed sooner if David Lee had let us keep his ladders and cinder blocks. It's a process that will take some time. Coach Nutt has already buried himself in the play page and will get that simplified so that our guys can bounce around out there on autopilot. I can assure you, it won't be long before Jevan will be sailing the ball a lot higher than he is right now. This allows us to get our Punt Team on the field a lot sooner in the game than most teams. I have had our guys practicing shanks and 20 yard sky kicks all year and we are just waiting on the right moment in the game to spring that on our opposition. You know, when our team is up by 2 in the last minute and it's 4th and 7 from our 15 yard line. They never expect us to pull out the old 20 yard sky kick. It's a thing of beauty to look across the field at the opposing coaching staff and seeing that look on their faces like, "WTF are they doing?" It's what makes special teams "special".

Don't shoot the messenger...

Come on RebelNutt...I think I've been pretty complimentary of this years team. It's easier to make more fun of Shibest than Nutt anyway...

whatever man....I would think it would be easier to take a good ribbing from a "few" razorback fans about your coach as opposed to the entire nation busting our coach every chance they get...

I don't like Nutt - I'm also tired of talking about him! Last thing I'll say is that in the 4th quarter he looked like Coco the gorilla running up and down the sidline...

Anyway good luck to your team. I hope ya'll stick with the passing game. Snead is a good one!

there are too many obsessed with Saban around here

on the other hand he did leave LSU whereas Nutt was pretty much driven out of Arkansas... a lot of people hated him while he was there whereas Saban was a little god in Baton Rouge till he bolted for the Dolphins

Ole Miss new simplified offensive philosphy

1st down -- smoke draw
2nd down -- Wild Rebel
3rd down -- Wild Rebel with pass option
4th down -- punt

say hello to your new innovative offensive philosphy -- to be ran 80 percent of the time...
