dubose was his own worst enemy. he had good assistants for the most part. he was in so far over his head, but instead of realizing his weaknesses and relying on his staff more, he let his ego run the show while also being the laziest coach in the league. bad combo.

Hopefully the next search they've learned not to try to get the diamond in the rough bargain coach.
I hope this is a lesson that Mal Moore will pass on to the next AD, and he passes to the next, and so on.

Okay...UF likely finishing behind UGA/USC means LSU gets #12 then?

It all depends on if LSU can beat Arkansas. CLearly the Alabama game doesn't count toward the regular season record.

If Dubose had been more disciplined and let Charlie Stubbs run the damn offense, 1999-2001 could have soooo much better.

I think people forget that when Bryant was hired, he was the hot coach like Saban. Alabama knew to hire that person, and clearly after Ears Wentworth, made the adjustment to keep the tradition Thomas and Wade had started. I don't understand what it was about having Bryant there for so long that made people forget that they needed to be more proactive. But it took them WAY too long to figure it out.

LSU should most likely beat Arky. As far as Florida being 3rd in the East I doubt it, but we could still beat Georgia. Usually, we georgia is highly favored over the Gators Florida somehow finds a way to beat them.

Me too. I thought he was setting up to blow his perfect season. It would have been fun to watch.

The biggest problem was, other than Bill Curry, they kept wanting to get people associated with Bear Bryant as head coach. Gene Stallings gave them faith that it would work. Then later on when Franchione bailed and Price fricked up, we panicked and went back to the family with Shula.

I kinda wish Petrino hadn't of been fired. I would have loved to see fan signs around the league.

I really thought you guys would beat Georgia last year and you damn near did. Georgia is the most under achieving program in the SEC.

Did he get retained? He was on Larry Porter's staff at Memphis, but he was fired after an awful two year fun.

You should hear my stepdad bitch about Perkins. He had to deal with him a lot, and literally cannot stand him.

I just don't think a successful coach should pick his successor. There is a natural conflict somewhere, even if it's unconscious, with the fear of the person who follows you being more successful than you. It's just human nature. Once the person leaves, he should be gone.

We started a rumor that Anal Beads caused his motorcycle accident. It started gaining momentum, and we were going to make it go viral and then we were going to market SEC colored mardi gras beads as anal beads and have everyone throw them at him when he played their team.
