he's also created havoc for other AD's and Universities. Seems like other SEC schools in the market for a coach are struggling big time to find quality replacement coaches to lead their program.

Alabama will be in the same boat in 5 years or so.

5 years ago I said 10 years. How many more years do you think he coaches?

If your reasoning is that good coaches dont want to compete against Saban, then can you imagine one wanting to come in right behind him at Bama. Prayers sent on the coaching search in a few years.

Nick Saban has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that:

a) Les started losing to Ole Miss and Arky on the reg and

b) Joe Alleva is the most incompetent AD in America.

Doesn't matter. He has built a program that will last on its own for years after he is gone.

Feel validated now?

I swear, I didn't buy into the whole "Insecure U" bs, but posts like this are starting to change my mind.

Until the Sun expands into a red giant, only for Saban to look it square in the eye and says, "Get back where you belong, a'ight?"

Then it goes back to being a yellow main sequence star (obliterating what we know about physics), then he retires.

Generally speaking, the SEC these last few years simply haven't tried hard enough trying to hire (or identify) good coaches. The BIG and ACC for example have done a better job hiring good coaches recently.

Alabamas record after Bear quit,

1983 Ray Perkins T–3rd — 8 4 0 Won 1983 Sun Bowl against SMU Mustangs, 21–15 ^ 15 12
1984 T–7th — 5 6 0 — — —
1985 T–3rd — 9 2 1 Won 1985 Aloha Bowl against USC Trojans, 24–3 ^ 13 14
1986 T–2nd — 10 3 0 Won 1986 Sun Bowl against Washington Huskies, 28–6 ^ 9 9
1987 Bill Curry T–4th — 7 5 0 Lost 1988 Hall of Fame Bowl to Michigan Wolverines, 24–28 ^ — —
1988 T–4th — 9 3 0 Won 1988 Sun Bowl against Army, 29–28 ^ 17 17
1989 * T–1st * — 10 2 0 L

Two 10 win seasons in 7 years, how will yall put up with that after Saban leaves?
Cousin/Wives will be taking some arse whippings.

After what Les had to deal with following Saban at LSU, I can't imagine what it's going to be like for whoever follows him at Bama.

Alabamas record after Bear quit,

1981 - Alabama 9-2-1
1982 - Alabama 8-4

Those are the last three seasons under Coach Bryant. Even then, I don't think anyone wanted him to leave. That said, the records by the coaches that followed him are right at about the same level he finished at. Bill Curry's three years are 1 less win than Bryant's last three. (27 wins vs 26). Perkins' disastrous '84 season is the main reason he didn't end up with the same average number of wins as Bryant's last three and Curry.

So, both coaches did actually end up with the status quo that had been established in Bryant's final seasons. They didn't take over the 1979 team that went undefeated, they took over the 82 team that finished 8-4.

Well, whoever comes in will likely have 5 number on recruiting classes to start with. So I imagine they would do pretty well in the beginning. I also imagine a lot of coaches would love to follow Saban because of the the talent he will leave behind. The only real question is, "Would new coach be able to sustain it?" Certainly not at the level of Saban, but even the worst coaches at Bama in recent history has managed a 10 win season at some point. I think we still have about a decade left of Saban at Bama, and then a couple of years of dominance after Saban leaves. And 12 years from now, the run might be over.

how many of those guys got a brick through their window for their troubles?

Bama won't ever go back to the mid 2000's days (barring more sanctions) but even with Saban expecting the current level to sustain itself for more than a few more years may be asking too much. Saban isn't getting any younger and even the best coaches ever started to slow down around 70.

So if Saban goes 8-4 his last season you’re okay with your next coach going 8-4? Goose was clearly talking about the incredible success Saban has had. It’s beyond stupid to expect your next coach to sustain that success. It didn’t happen after Spurier, Meyer, Kelly, Bear, Tressel......
