I pull for Miles and I hope he continues winning at LSU but you just have to fear that 3rd and Chavis could be true. Even if it is only the first game. Oline play was also weak.

Well, I think for the GT game it was the players themselves that said that before that game they had a team meeting, and said that they were going to show everyone who LSU really was. They made a stand for themselves, and for their pride, why can't the coaches have the players ready like that for every game?

Florida, Bama, and now Tenn, have that will to crush whoever they are playing, while LSU is going out of there way not to offend the other team by not beating them too bad

Kiffin is a classless turd that will RUTS against rent-a win teams just to boost his own self esteem, he doesn't belong in the same conversation with Meyer or Saban.

I don't ever remember Saban RUTS when he was at LSU. He played a lot of backups in the 2nd half if he had a comfortable lead...but he expects everyone(especially the D) to give it there all regardless of what's on the scoreboard.

Florida's fortunate to have Charlie Strong as long as they have. Coaching continuity in the defense is a big reason the Gators have been successful...Can anyone remember the last time LSU had a DC that was still there during the senior season of guys they personally recruited out of high school?

I hope Chavis sticks around for a while...he's proven to succeed and it's just a matter of time before he is fielding a dominant d here.

As much as I hate to admit it, the distance traveled and the timezone change did have an impact. I think our conditioning could have been better.

this is what my brother was saying. he really feels like the time of day that game was played at played a MAJOR role in the fatigued seeming Tiger team. i'm beginning to feel the same way.

Not to mention, it's not easy to scout and prepare for a team that has a new coach and new off./def. systems. LSU had no game film to look at to get ready for this game. That's why it looked so vanilla out there. We'll see a different team from here on out.

it's what makes other teams HATE playing you. and finally bama has a team that's doing exactly that.

thank you Jesus.. thank you Nick Saban!

Don't forget to thank WAYNE HUIZENGA and Skip Bertman as well.

Without Huizenga's millions, Saban would still be at LSU fielding that kind of defense.
(Still too early to determine what Chavis is going to bring)

Bertman just rolled over and played dead while Huizenga was flying into BR, sweeping Saban off his feet and did nothing of consequence to keep him in BR.......

Seems like the players aren't as stone cold crazy as the Dorsey/Hester/Landry/Stelz-era Tigers. From 2005-2007, we had a ton of leaders on the team, and they were very visible and high-profile in leading the other guys. Today's team seems downright genteel compared to some of the crazies we've had in the recent past. I think the team could use a little of the old stone-cold insanity of previous Tiger teams.

I don't think you are 100% accurate but I do understand your frustration as an LSU fan. I actually pull for you guys when you are not playing us and the only thing I am somewhat perplexed by is the defense as a whold and the offensive line.

Y'alls offensive line should be destroying people and the defense just doesn't look like they attach like the use to. I think y'all have a great football team and I think y'all have "more" talent than just about anyone in the conference but there doesn't seem to be any urgency with the way they are playing.

I think LSU should be killing people, and I don't buy the, "we are holding back" bullshite or the, "they were just not up for this game". How can you not be up for the opening game in a football season when you have been working your arse off all year to get to that day.

I detect some lethargy that needs to be corrected.

Great post. I agree 100%

I totally agree with the OP.

I thought UT was the definition of swagger from 96-01 and watched it slip away over the next 7 years. In that time since, I have thought LSU was the definition of swagger and envied what you had and what we had lost.

That is kind of why I've always liked LSU. I never kept up with individual LSU players or knew their names, but collectively as a defense you guys were as mean as they came.

UT appears to have the swagger back but we havn't been punched in the mouth yet so the degree of swagger is TBD.

Case in point, when Bryce Brown broke that 30 yard run and went out of bounds, Eddie gran jumped in his face immediately. The next day on the Lane Kiffin show, Kiffin said he was disappointed that Brown went out of bounds because when a RB that size has one db to beat in open field, "he needs to punish him" and make him think twice about trying to stop him.
