Now take the B1G, A10, and Big12 where they talk only about the wins and do not mention the bad losses.
Which would be what they classify the loses to SEC teams as. I had no idea Mizzou beat UCLA either but outside of UF and Kentucky the media meme is, "#secbasketballfever will
kill you"
I think the league, coaches, and AD's need to do a better job of highlighting and politicking for our schools. Seems like Slive has been MIA this week?

So Florida, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kentucky all have wins over conference champions auto bid teams now.
But our league sucks.
Okay

Okay

They had him on during the tournament the other day and all he could talk about was the playoffs and SEC network.
When discussing basketball he tried to pin it all on scheduling, which honestly, his office doesn't help by giving legit NCAA teams multiple RPI boosting games in conference.

We really didn't help ourselves as a conference with those cupcake OCC games, and then we turned around and lost a fair amount of them. We would have been much better off with stronger schedules.
No way the SEC is the seventh best conference (more like 5th).
No way the Atlantic deserves 6 teams and the SEC get's 3.
But it is what it is.

Meh.....it really seems ESPN pushes all leagues but ours.
I'm holding my judgement for tonight....let's see what happens.

The problem with the schedules is there are not that many high-decent RPI schools in the regional areas that will do a pay for play format like there is in the north.
So, that puts these SEC schools having to get what is available to fill out most of the non-con schedule as every program has to have a certain amount of home games to be profitable.
The good mid-major programs are starting to demand home and home series, they usually will not draw a bigger amount of revenue in home games to offset the expense to travel to their place the following year.
This is the area where the SEC Network should allow the scheduling to get better via extra revenue for the schools to be able to afford to play a team like say Gonzaga or BYU home and home or neutral sites.

I seemed to have missed where ESPN has mentioned that this week since because of where LSU finished in conference they are one of the reason's the SEC is "so bad".
On positive is how Arkansas, LSU, UGA, Carolina, and Ms. State are all having to rely on cores of freshmen/sophs for the most part, as these guys mature you would have to think the teams will improve and thus the conference as a whole.
Really, Florida is the only senior laden team in the SEC this year.

Eh, we had a good bit of experience on our team, we just tanked, and bad.
Hickey was a JR. Stringer a SR. Coleman a SR. JOB III a JR.
All 4 of those guys were integral parts to the team but didnt seem to help much.

Losing those guys will hurt, if JOBIII comes back, LSU could be very good next year, but even without him they seemed to have some good looking underclassmen in the few games I watched.
Obviously this recruiting class will be important for LSU to replace those guys and keep improving the program.

@CecilHurt: So in a five-state Deep South area (AL, GA, MS, LA, AR), the two NCAA Tournament teams are Mercer and UL-LaFayette.
This sucks

Hickey will be back, and he's probably the most underappreciated PG in the SEC. He had a crazy good year in AST:TO margin. Having an experienced SR. PG for next year's team will be big. I suspect the lineup will look something like this:
C: SO. Jordan Mickey
PF: SO. Jarell Martin
SF: JR. Keith Hornsby [Transfer from UNC-A becoming eligible]
SG: JR. Josh Gray [Led JUCO in scoring this year]
PG: SR. Anthony Hickey
Then we would have Robinson, Epps, Odo, Malone, Hammink, Patterson, Morgan and Quarterman coming off the bench.

That looks like a good roster, JOBIII leaving could be addition by subtraction, not that he is a bad player or disrupts the team's flow on the court, but that it will allow Martin and Mickey to do more of what they are capable of.

BTW: I think you can go ahead and give the SEC's bid to Florida and the B1G's to Mich St. with the way the scores look.

Martin played a little uncomfortable it seemed to me when all 3 (JOB III, Mickey and himself) were all out on the floor. I think when he was out on the floor with just Mickey or just JOB III it opened up the lane some for him and instead of shooting long range 2's and 3's he started to take to the rim more often. The dude is super athletic and I think we may see the biggest improvement of any player be him from this year to next. A guy that tall with that athletic ability AND the ability to hit jump shot is a huge asset.
The biggest ? marks are how will Keith Hornsby and Josh Gray translate. Gray tore up JUCO this year and Hornsby was a very good player at UNC-A (AVG 15pts/4reb/3ast). Gray even made All Big XII Freshman when he was at Texas Tech as a freshman. It's really up to those 2 guys how good we will be next year IMO, becauseI think we know what we'll get from Mickey and Hickey...and to an extent an improved Martin.
