im the same i hate being on the phone everyday 
I do like at least a text or two a day but i find it pointless to talk to the gf on the phone every day because there is only so much to talk about

It's not that I mind it - it's just that I find it unnecessary, especially if we see each other often. And sometimes it can feel smothering. I'm more of a "let there be space in your togetherness" type.

its just when you talk every day you run out of things to talk about

See, when you spend all your time with someone, you get bored, because you never have anything new to bring to the relationship. There's nothing new to talk about, because you're always together. I will always have my own friends and hobbies.

I try to find that happy medium between not spending enough time together (my current situation) and spending too much time together.

it works for me because i like having the space to do what i like but sometimes it sucks not spending as much time with the gf. I could live with the current gf and be fine though because we wouldn't spend every moment together.
