Exactly. Sam's problem is he's a tweener. He could still make a team as an FA tho.

I think I agree with this. I think. But I can also see a shitstorm if somebody else announced Sam was gay. Then he'd have been followed around relentlessly by sports reporters who wanted "the real Michael Sam story". I also don't think there's a way to "casually mention" it, and I don't see any evidence that he aspired to anything. It just turned out that way, and I think it was inevitable.
I wish him well. If he doesn't get drafted today, though, prepare for the deluge from reporters who know absolutely nothing about football.

I'm more interested to see how Sam handles it should he not be drafted. Will he use the gay card or will he just take it in stride and go to work at camp as a FA?
