Did gas not go up that summer for y'all too? I remember spending almost $100-$120 a week on gas that summer, granted I was driving around a lot. It sucked.

and I was wrong. It wasn't the NCAA that banned colored turf, it was the NFL that banned it.

I still think Boise should get rid of that awful color though.

Yeah I work in sales so the gas shortage thing really sucked for me. I worked in Dunwoody and a few times I ended up driving all the way over to Kennesaw to find gas.

Relapse,

Austin was also in a record breaking severe drought. Missouri wasn't. Skewed numbers perhaps? I think so.

I was in Austin last August. Lakes were super low. But as hot as it was, it wasn't humid. Felt quite comfortable. Nice actually.

98 degree dry heat in Austin feels far better than 90 degree humid heat in Missouri.

You sense a troll, but I think you may be the troll!

It's not really a heat battle here but I've stayed in St. Louis over the summer and it does get pretty damned hot

I know.

I started talking about the idea of a black turf field and how hot that could get, and then the trolls arrived to point out that Missouri doesn't get hot in the Summer because we're located too far north to understand true heat. We're northerners! What the hell do we know about heat, football, tea, success, river rafting, boating, women, basketball, fashion, nice homes, happiness, schools, etc., etc., etc., etc.

That's what you get with people who've never left their hometown. Idiots.

Why is Mizzou increasing capacity for?? They averaged 62,095 in 2011 in a official capacity 71,004 seat stadium? Almost 10,000 under. In comparsion A&M averaged 87,183 in a official capacity of 82,600. Makes no sense for Mizzou to increased to over 80,000 when they can't fill the stadium they have.

Well, if I had to guess, it's bc they are in the SEC now. News flash: SEC fans travel well.

Ok. I'm in St. Louis now, and lived and traveled through out the South most of my life. St. Louis is pretty damn bad on the heat and humidity scale. While its not Gainesville, Houston, or Tallulah, Louisiana on the scale of swampy hellholes, its pretty damn close.

AUnite...good point on visiting fans. I have feeling we won't have anymore visiting fans only bringing 830 fans out of 2,000 tickets the way Baylor did this past fall. We really HAVE to increace capacity at Kyle ASAP. What is the minimum number of visiting tickets the SEC requires a home team to sell?

2 reasons:

1) as I stated before we actually only have 62k seats right now the other 9k are "Hill Seats" which are GA and not even real seats. So by that count we actually sold out every single actual seat in the house last year. Also for the first time we now have a waiting list for season tickets bc of the SEC move for sure.

2) SEC fan bases travel well and we now have to increase our away tickets from 3 to 6k per game.

I'm almost positive there is a rule against colored fields now bc of Boise. I can't watch them play, their field color gives me a damn migraine.

There is no such rule. Since Boise put in the Smurf Turf two other NCAA schools (New Haven and Eastern Washington) have added colored turf. If Auburn wanted to install orange-colored bermuda grass (developed by its agriculture department) it could do so.

Fight Tigers....ok...that makes sense...but going over 80,000 still doesn't. If Mizzou goes to over 80,000 I bet they have almost 10,000 empty seats every game.

I heard 7,500 is the number that the SEC requires.

They should have bought all 2,000 and brought a traveling Tarp of Shame.

I can agree that I do wish we would do grass as well but the reality is for some reason when they did grass it was just a shitty mess. We even brought in the Royals and Chiefs turf management teams to try and figure out the problem and they found out it was a drainage issue because of bedrock or something to that extent. Because of that we will likely never see real grass in Faurot again, which is too bad as real football is played on a grass field.

I guess only time will tell but that's about 5 years down the line before we get to the 80k number. I've read that phase 1 will be completed by 2015 and at that point we will have 75k seats. Also the Chiefs sell out over 80,000 seats every Sunday and I think the Mizzou to the SEC draw is really starting to gain steam at least in attention from the team from T-Shirt fans, which we never have had before.

Fair argument Tigers....would be GREAT for the SEC if Mizzou is averaging over 80,000 by 2015.

good job leaving everything else out. I think I said 100+ with high humidity. Worse than dry heat.

True statement.

I was in Columbia, MO and Miami in July last summer. No comparison. Hell Tulsa was hotter.
