You're right...not "a single bad loss" but MULTIPLE bad losses. Double digit losses to Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Georgia....none of which are ranked. Also lost to Vandy who is also unranked. BTW with Ole Miss now out of the top 25, the number of unranked losses of the 7 is now 5 (Texas is the other unranked loss). Need some dramamine because you have to be dizzy from that spin.

They also have wins in conference play over #2, #24, #12, and #5x2
You can’t ignore those.

Why are you so upset about the rankings? There is a tournament at the end of the year that settles everything, not a poll like they used to have in football.
Maybe they are overrated. It happens when a team is consistently good. I think LSU is usually overrated in baseball, but they are really good more times than not, so if I were doing the rankings I would give them the benefit of the doubt until proven wrong. Florida is the same. We were both overrated last season, but still ended up with pretty good success in the post season.
Back to basketball. Take a look at Purdue. Ranked 20th, with the same record as Kentucky and have lost 4 in a row. How can you lose 4 in a row and still be ranked? It's not like they are Auburn with 2 losses. They had 5 losses two weeks ago and now have 9 losses and are still top 20.
When you state that you want UK to move down, you have to look at what the teams around them are doing. It is why Auburn stayed at #1 after losing. They still had the best resume.
Anyway, I don't disagree that traditionally strong teams can get bumped in polls, I just don't think it is that big of a deal because of the tournament at the end of the season. You keep up the good fight though sir, you are very resilient.

He’s just being contrarian lol.
Yeah UK is inconsistent. Yeah they’ve lost some games. But their rank is pretty easy to justify given who they’ve knocked off.

Huh? I gave my opinion in the original post and then predicted...accurately I might add...that the SEC shouldn't have 9 teams in the top 25. Now, they have 8 and should have 7. You do miss one point in the rankings although not the ones released Mondays. The ranking done by the committee gives you seeding which obviously affects the supposed difficulty of your path in the tournament. That is why #1 is more important than #2 because eventually they might play #4 while the #2 might eventually play #3. If rankings aren't important then teams spend a hell of a lot of time complaining or praising them don't they?
BTW, you must have missed one of my posts on this topic...where I said "we will see in a few weeks". I never claimed that the games weren't decided on the court but just like this year's CFP in football, I assume you remember where a couple off teams got what appeared to be and turned out to be an easy road. That can happen in the NCAA tourney also.

Ooooorrrr, from my perspective you and a couple of others are being contrarians. Although as usual, the main shrillers about Kentucky are...surprise, surprise...Kentucky fans according to their name/profile symbol. As I've said, the biggest whiners in the SEC the last decades have been Alabama fans in football and Kentucky fans in basketball..
Just wait, when Kentucky loses, it will the refs or the seeding or bracket they were given.

A contrarian is someone who rejects the prevailing opinion of the group at large. You’re the odd one out here, my dude.

You gotta be trolling. No way can someone have this level of animosity towards Pope and UK. A UK team that wasn't even suppose to be that good.

BTW, the one I know for sure who agrees with me on this thread more than some others here is NobodyImportant. Read some of his posts on the subject if you think I am the only one thinks the SEC teams OVERALL are overrated.

First, I'm not sure I've ever even visited this board before so I don't have a history with "Pope". For all they know, they are great posters or lousy posters. I DO KNOW over the years that as I've said a couple of times, the most overrated teams by their fans are Alabama football and Kentucky basketball. They can't accept the fact that other teams have passed them by. In football of course it is Georgia. In basketball, it is Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee at least...maybe more.
Perhaps instead of some nonsense accusation of trolling, perhaps you should instruct the UK fans here to own up to what Kentucky basketball has become...a good program but not in the elite category.

I don't understand the point you are trying to make here, but to your previous point, yes there is way too much consternation over rankings and seedings.
Personally I would rather be a 2 or 3 seed because I want to fly under the radar a little bit. 4 is not preferable because you will run into a 1 seed too soon, but you have to be ready to beat everyone if you want to call yourself the champ so frick it. Seed us wherever and if you are the best it will show.

You seemed to understand the point of the post you responded to since you said the same thing in different words. Seeding does matter because of what you said. You would prefer not to be #4, #7, #8, #16 for example because you would be in the earlier direct path of #1 (assuming that seed is legitimate). Also, a lot of time is spend, rightly or wrongly, claiming that one bracket is the "easiest" or the "hardest".
As far as the overall point of this topic, I believe I have made the point pretty simple. I believe the SEC have some teams deserving of ranking and some not so much. It got proven in football this past season where the SEC barely finished above .500 in bowl games. And before anyone talks about those games being worthless or with depleted rosters, the opponents lost just as many players as the SEC teams to "non-participation."
In bright news for the SEC LSU lost a TON of players who didn't play in the bowl game against Baylor...the Bears almost no one. Yet LSU won that game handily.
