Wow! Bama still looking every bit like the overall #1.

Arkansas looking quite stout today as well with that 5-inning thumping.

Haven't they run-ruled everyone they've played in this year's regionals?

Don't believe so, but they haven't allowed a run yet.

26 shutouts this year.

“State earned that win. They went down big twice and fought back both times. OU has only themselves to blame when scoring 9.

Congrats to State and makes games 2 and 3 very interesting.

I also read somewhere State was like 11-10 on the road so to pull this away game out is huge for them and the program. Will help recruiting too”

Looking back at the State-OK game, there was a play that nobody mentioned that was the turning point in the game (IMHO). Bottom of the fifth (OK leading 6-2). State’s catcher with a perfect throw picks off the runner at first base to end the inning. And from that point on it felt like the whole momentum of the game shifted. State jumped on it and OK started to play tentatively (playing not to lose). And even in the bottom of the seventh when State pitched to Wells (and we had to as there were two on base). She made a great pitch and was able to tie her up with the foul out.
Great win for our girls. We have a gritty team that is not intimidated by playing on the road. I have no idea what will happen today. We will see but hopefully it will be another entertaining and exciting game.

Yes we’ve made some really bad base running decisions all year. A game not to far in the past we had a runner on 1st try stealing 2nd and got thrown out. Problem is Wells was batter. Next pitch she hits a HR. That just blows my mind why we risk it so many times.

Another fluke play was the ball hitting ump and deflecting back in play and they caught our player in a trap. Player has to be more aware. But that was going to be a double and score 1 plus 1 less out.

Mainly out pitching has declined over the past few years. We hit great but when slowed down we are vulnerable. Yesterday was just a bunch of stuff including many errors and not good pitching.

That was just one of those unusual and unfortunate plays. Can’t really fault the base runner there. We definitely caught a break there.

Our overall hitting averages are low but we played a really difficult schedule this year. We definitely have taken our lumps but it has helped us be prepared to play in a hostile environment and not let the crowd affect us.
OK can definitely mash the ball. Hopefully we can limit some of your power hitters today to give ourselves a chance to win.
