LSU sat the All-Time HR record of 188 home runs in 1997 in 70 games. Is this a record that will stand forever, or can someone break it with the BBCOR -3 bats? We all know the bats back then were hot, and maybe assisted in some home runs. But congrats to that LSU team as it’s one of the best of all times in LSU history. That team hit a home run in ever single game.

This could be the year the Vols threaten that record with the rate they are hitting home runs. So far the Vols have hit 121 home runs in 42 games. The Vols will most certainly break the UT school record before the regular season is over with. If they keep this same pace, they will hit 162 hr in the regular season. Between the SEC Tourny, Regionals, Supers, and Omaha, it’s possible the Vols could break the all time record.

LSU 1997 pace- 2.68 home runs per game.
UT 2024 pace- 2.88 home runs per game.

That LSU team won a natty. This Vols team isn't.

Rather the Vols win a natty or not this year, that’s not the topic of this discussion. The topic is rather the Vols can break the record or not if they are given enough games in the post season?

At this pace, they won’t need 70 games if they keep this up, so they don’t need to win a natty to break the record. At the current pace they are on, they would hit 201 home runs if they play 70 games. They could break the all time record with 65 games, if they keep the current pace they are at.

Now the natty, it’s possible. If their pitching comes alive and bats stay like they are? They will win it. They have the 3rd best odds currently to win the college World Series. But the pitching is going to have to step it up if they are going to have a chance.

How so? How do you think they have been tampered with? All the bats they are possibly going to use for the weekend, are inspected before the first game. And the bats that are not inspected prior to the first game, can’t be used that weekend. Every bat gets an inspection sticker.
