I only have one question. If Tyler has a Heisman day and upsets UA, are we gonna have to hear how the Hogs are going to paste LSU by 30 for the 2 months afterward?

Nah.. Even when things seem set up for perfection, Arkansas has always blown it. It's happened so much that we EXPECT to blow it. If we beat Bama, we will be happy as hell to have finally beat them and end the 5 year drought against them, but we'll be nervous as hell "knowing" that we are going to blow a game to someone and end our chance at a perfect season. We're like the Chicago Cubs of college football.
But of course, a loss to LSU wouldn't be "blowing" it. When it comes to the LSU game, we can throw records and stats out the window. That is going to be a hard fought game and neither team can realistically expect to blow the other out, no matter how much trash is said on a message board.
Even though last season ended with a pretty lop-sided score, it was a 1 TD game going into the 4th quarter. The 4 or 5 games before that b/w LSU and Arkansas, the average margin of difference was like 3 points or less (maybe not that slim, but it has been a close series no doubt as of late).

Just checking
I'm not used to dealing with a Hog fan that isn't in a wild-eyed energizer bunny frenzy mode.

Of course you will see some trolling coming LSU's way if we beat Bama, or hell, even if we don't beat Bama; but as far as serious threads, we won't be confident about a "W" until it happens.

I think this season we may have just the right recipe to finally get over that hump. With Houston Nutt, we had a rah-rah guy who would make his players feel loose and play their hearts out, but the man just wasn't that smart and his teams' potential was always limited b/c of that.
With Bobby, we had the X's and O's down, but he was such a hard arse that I feel like when things weren't going our way, players didn't always feel like giving it their all for the a-hole head coach.
This season, we have a rah-rah guy in John L, but we also have the X's and O's with Petrino's offense and Tyler leading the way. Plus we have plenty of experience through the offense and defense, and great special teams to add to that. I love our prospects for this season with this coaching staff, our players, and our schedule.

I noticed things were up when the Troy game got out of hand. Guess who sent 100 texts or so that day to some Jessica. Bobby wasn't all in last year.
I like John L., but his post-season game-planning is one of the worst. I am dreading a major bowl or a NC appearance.
Everything looks great, a amazing season that leads to a redemption game against USCw is actually possible. I'm not predicting anything this season. I'll probably bet $10 on Bama, LSU & Arkansas to win it all, but other than that I'm just going to let it happen.

Good news, no need for dreading that at all.

I think we're in good hands with the Pauls and Tyler Wilson. Smith is just steering the ship while his assistants are doing the real work, IMO.

I think that's a really good betting strategy for real.

Have you pre-ordered your Liberty Bowl tickets yet?

Oh, awesome. I'm happy that even Auburn fans have full faith in the hogs, especially in the post-season.
You're right RockyMtnTiger, if Arkansas makes it that far, they'll win it.

yea but how many serious bowl games have any of them seriously game-planned beyond a position or 2? I'm sure gameplans were made before Haynes arrived, and I don't know if Paul Petrino is ready to handle game-planning for a NC or serious bowl.
John L. handled Mich state in a similar manner, but the assistant coaches didn't know how to handle post-season game-planning either.
Seeing Haynes in the Cotton bowl was good, but how will he be when the stress pours on and he has to plan for his last game for possibly a year or 2.

Haynes has coached a team to a BCS bowl win. I forgot who they beat, but his D was pretty good.
As far as Paul Petrino goes, think of it this way. Everything has been set up for him to succeed. He has one of the best QB's in the nation who could probably start for an NFL team or two. He has one of the best RB's in the nation. He has inherited one of the best offenses in the nation. He's going to have to go out of his way to frick up our offense.
Imagine being in your arrogant brother's shadow most of your adult life, even though your brother's talents aren't that much greater than yours. Wouldn't you be ready to grab the bull by the horns when you finally get that opportunity? Paul Petrino is going to be a head coach soon. If I had to put money on it, I'd bet he's our next HC after John L.

That's what I'm afraid of.
Not only does he not need to stray from Bobby's gameplan during the season, but weird things happen when coaches over-think a post-season game.

As much as I want it to happen and as much as I believe that it's possible, I can't even imagine Arkansas winning the SEC and be looking at facing a team like USC-W in the NC. It would be incredible to say the least.
