I agree on the Bama vs lsu part also. I feel it started when CNS came to Bama.Pissed the LA Tigers off BAD!
Bama fans really didn't think of lsu too much, things like whose the coach(Saban came on radar) also, we've won that game most(pre2000)most of the time. Then Bama began the climb n well it's just got more intense every year.

I never understood some rivalries - according to some older bammers I know the only reason Bama and Tennessee had a 'rivalry' was because of some comment Bryant made ~50 years ago. Don't get why it would still be that way now with neither team both good in one year in 20+ years. They've never even played against each other in the SECCG.

I think it goes back to Neyland beginning to challenge 'Bama's dominance in the old days. That, and Bryant never could beat Neyland before he retired.

Well, one thing you have to remember is that back when both teams were at the top of their games simultaneously, there wasn't an SECCG. There was only -- for the sake of the rivalry -- the Third Saturday.
