"@MikeBBonner: Mullen: They're going to take on (Geoff Collins') personality. Your'e going to see a defense that plays really aggressive."

Well that wont be even close to the same at least

McKinney sees plenty of improvement ahead for the Bulldog defense under coordinator Geoff Collins. "We're a more juiced up defense," McKinney said. "A more mobile defense. You're going to see a lot of players doing a lot of different things."

I take this as "we're not going to stand in our spots with our thumbs up our asses and get shredded in a read/react defense we aren't nearly athletic enough to pull off"...

The A&M game might have been one of the worst defensive called games I've seen at the college level. It was mind boggling.

I could live with 8-4 this year considering the schedule.

Agreed. It was just ridiculous.

Also the 3 "worst" defensive performances were, strangely, the games that Quay didn't play a snap in -- aTm, Ole Miss, and Troy. I think Nick James "missed" those same 3 games and one other one...

Our personnel usage on the DL was one of the most terrible things I've ever seen. Speaks to the incompetence of being a defensive coordinator when you can't even get your own personnel usage right IMO...

Amazing how many "problems" with playcalling and gameplanning that Fletcher Cox hid for us in 2011 -- stuff that is obvious now in hindsight...

What kind of defense does Miss State run anyway?

Based on the limited amount of games I've seen, it appears to be based primarily on telling everyone how good your secondary is as they get torched in every conference game against a team with a pulse. It gets really technical and confusing beyond that, though.

Sucks that TN has rotated off the schedule.

If MSU runs the same defense as last year, the fans will revolt. That's all I know.

sadly i agree. Tenn, Bama, aTm, Ole Miss, all torched the secondary. Banks got owned in both the Bama and Tenn games from what i remember.

State was 7th in SEC games only in Pass D- and that was with no pass rush. If 7th is "torched"- wtf is 8th-14th?

In all fairness, State did keep Jonathan Football under 700 yards total offense.

Troy's qb threw for 350 on yall. Spin if you like, but your secondary got molested fairly often last year. DWI.
