They are setting themselves up to look like fools if they somehow choke this game away, with this and their uniforms.

It's marketing. Thinking outside the box, which is what schools like ole miss and state have to do these days. It will make our university trend more on twitter. But not many people will see it so it's not a big deal. It' publicity and it's free. It makes sense. Is it a good idea? I don't know.
