Contrary to popular belief, football isn't as popular around the nation as it is down here.

Which would explain why we're better than everyone else in football

Really? What kind of money is ESPN shelling out for broadcast rights? That's what I thought.

Really, if I wanted to inflate them I would claim the TWENTY SIX that have been awarded by various services through the years. By the way, in sports people give a shite about, Alabama is still ahead. Have fun attending swimming events and girls girls field hockey.

That doesn't mean it isn't a big sport. I meant that more people run track and field than play football.

But more people pay attention to football than track and field. That's common knowledge.

And Drew, I was referring to college track and field.

no, bama is ahead in football. LSU is bigger on the national scene in the other 2 you listed...baseball and men's basketball.

No, Bama has more SEC titles in basketball than LSU does- 7 regular season titles 6 tournament titles to LSU's 10 regular season titles and 1 tournament title.

tourney titles don't mean shite as the really good teams often rest stars in the semis or finals b/c they have bigger goals. Regular season titles in both of these sports are the best way to judge, by far. LSU has the lead in regular season titles.

Also, NCAA tourney performance is perhaps the best barometer for gauging a program's success. You see, most big time programs look to succeed on the national scene. LSU crushes bama in this regard.

finally, in sport that is so focused on individual stars like basketball the # of SEC and national players of the year, NBA HOF'ers, etc all play a huge role in shaping the national image of a program. You don't want to go there.

Bama has football, i can clearly admit that. We best you in the other 2 you mentioned, as well in overall athletic program success. Can you admit the same?

You're full of fail. You don't even back your posts with legitimate sources. LSU's overall athletic program > Alabama's, and it isn't even close.

quote:

LSU has won 46 team national championships, 42 of which are recognized by the NCAA, tying them for 5th all time in total national championships.[2] Four of them are not recognized because there was not an NCAA sanctioned event in place at the time to determine a champion, and thus polls were used.

quote:

By winning the SEC championship in Men's Basketball for the 2008-2009 season, LSU became the first SEC school to win at least 10 SEC championships in the big 3 sports of Football, Men's Basketball, and Baseball.

According to the SEC, Alabama has 4 NC's outside of football.

And I stand by that. Can you name off the top of your head who won NCAA sports besides football, baseball and basketball? By the way, AGAIN, point out ONE thing I posted which was false.
