And why is it Harbaugh?

Hard to disagree.

His career college coaching record is 90-45 for a .667 winning percentage.

Harbaugh has taken his current team to the CFP, doesn’t have an 0-7 record vs ranked teams on the road and never lost to Ed Orgeron by 40+ points or after he’d already been fired.

That’s much more than Jimbo can say.

1) David Shaw - Only because he is one of the highest paid coaches
2) Jim Harbaugh - Became widely lauded** for beating Ohio state ONCE only to get destroyed in CFP
3) Brian Kelly - Has never won a NY6 bowl and has made a living beating up on sub par teams. Has gotten exposed nearly every time he played a good team.

The “I inherited my dad’s Ferrari and I just haven’t wrecked it yet” club

4) Lincoln Riley - inherited program from Bob Stoops. Had an easy path to playoff most years but has gotten exposed every time except once.
5) Ryan Day - Same.

Let’s talk about Jimbo vs Brian Kelly

Jimbo has won a NY6 bowl with his current team. That’s more than Brian Kelly has ever accomplished.

So... a tallest midget response. Both guys belong in the conversation. Does it really matter which one sucks more?

What’s Brian Kelly’s record in NY6 Bowls and what was his average margin of defeat in those games?

Really sounds a lot like Jimbo at A&M.

Jimbo did beat North Carolina for the NY6 bowl win but Kelly also beat that same team by two touchdowns when they actually had most of their best players.

I would say that Jimbo has a better win or two (like 2021 Alabama) but he also lost to 4 less talented teams that same year.

Also, Brian Kelly has never ran from Wake Forest.

Just a year ago, the sentiment here would have overwhelmingly been "Kirby", but winning it all has a way of changing troll....err....perception.

I'm sticking with Jimbo. frick his trophy. Without Jameis, he ain't shite.

Eh, he was widely lamented for what he did at Stanford and then going to a super bowl. Him beating Michigan was more in the realm of, “well it’s about time, took you long enough.” I don’t think he’s particularly rated very favorably like he used to be when Michigan first hired him

I don't know that Kelly is really "overrated."

He did get a monster contract but no one really perceives him as a top coach in CFB because of his postseason record.

Not only has Brian Kelly never won a NY6, he’s never beaten a team that’s won a NY6.

Beating a fringe top 25 team in a bowl game and trying to make it seem like more than it is is very on brand for A&M. Brian Kelly’s losses in the postseason people love to bring up have been in the BCS title game and the CFP. Pretty stark difference. Jimbo beating that UNC team was no more impressive than Kelly beating #17 LSU in the Citrus Bowl

The interesting thing is that North Carolina was missing most of their best players and it was still a dogfight for most of the game until Aggie pulled away late.

I believe the Tar Heels finished something like 4th in the ACC.
