I think a lot of it has to do with the sidewalk fans. The typical alumni at Alabama are pretty cool from what I've seen. Like when I moved to Birmingham for a month, two of my best friends who went to USA claimed to be hardcore bama fans and never stopped talking about them. However, they never knew when they played, never watched, and were very obnoxious. There's so many of those types. People like that don't think about representing their school in a positive way because its not their school.

Our fans are pretty laid back on gameday. We self police.
Sadly, the most aggressive I have ever seen our fanbase was when Texas visited in 2004.
I've never seen any visiting fans come close to LSU fans in obnoxiousness. Nowhere close.

sorry i'm tardy to the party but from the schools I have visited:
1) UGA
2) LSU
3) Bama
4) UT
5) OM
I don't think anyone should be allowed to say anything if you have never been to a school...a know some of yall are in fricking high school and dont know shite about frick mah man

I think this is left up to personal opinions but this has been my experience with the various SEC fans and I have seen LSU play them all multiple times at home and all but vandy and kentucky on the road. (I will leave LSU off my list but they would probably land in my top 5 if not top 3 
)
1. Tennessee (Just plain dumb...think they are still upset when we knocked them out of the Nat'l title game...after we beat them in the SEC title in '07, fans were harrassing us about losing to arkansas)
2. South Carolina (Wow...didn't think they had anything to be obnoxious about...2 years ago, was hit with pennies and batteries during the game...kept doing the Gator chomp...when was the last time they beat Florida, especially when Florida was good?)
3. Ole Miss (Before the game they are fine. IF you beat them, they are fine. IF you lose, oh man...last year was the worst. Bit pathetic really.)
4. Georgia (Classless...have people with microphones yelling at you from their tents very obscene things...last year told me my mom liked his pants last night after doing her doggie style when i replied to a retort about only women wear purple with I loved his red pants.)
5. Alabama (Youth-just out of college, absolutely ridikulous. Just plain ignorant. Older folks keep them lower down because they are some of the best fans I have met. Really enjoyed talking about the game after we lost last year. Also fed us and just real generous. Classy older folk out there in T-town.)
6. Arkansas (Never been to Fayetteville but the folks in Little Rock were alot like at Ole Miss...great till they beat us. Like they don't expect to win, but when they do, they punish you with their bent up frustration. Laughable.)
7. Florida (In Gainesville, it was great. Even after they demoralized us on the field, they were respectable afterwards. Talked about the rest of the season. Wished each other luck. The traveling Gators are far worse. Of course, the cell-phone incidents of our less-than-intellegent part of the the fan base, almost acceptable. Hoping the atmosphere is better in Gainesville this year!)
8. Auburn (Never had too many problems with them, but then again, I am smart enough to take down my LSU decals and flags off of my car before the game. 3 cars in the parking lot with mine that had LSU gear had slashed tires after the game. Last time I was there, was the epic defensive showdown of 2004 with the picked up pass interference call. One of the best games I have ever attended and my favorite game on the road despite the loss. And I have seen some good ones.)
9./10. Kentucky/Vandy (What do they have to be obnoxious about? Pretty much vanilla people there.)
11. Miss St (GREAT fans. Have been 4 times now to Starksville and always enjoy it. Sure they haven't been good for awhile and we have practically owned them. But tailgating is fun and their fans are friendly. I think that more of our schools should stick it to the SEC and NCAA when it comes to our traditions like they have with the cowbell! Tiger Rag, With love from Dixie, and other traditions should not be discontinued because people are ignorant and want to claim they are indecent. GO STATE!)
And that, SEC Rant, is what really grinds my gears!

2. South Carolina. Not much to be obnoxious about, but when/if they beat you once every 6-7 years you will hear about it over, and over, and over. And that GD rooster crowing over their PA...
3. Auburn. They've never committed a penalty, ever. Just ask them.
4. Tennessee. I know they're still excited about indoor plumbing up there, but shite...
5. Alabama. Not real bad. I live in west Georgia, and these frickers have sprung up like kudzu the last two years
6.Kentucky. Same reason as Carolina. One win every decade, and holy shite, lookout because it's coming.
7. LSU/Ole Miss/MS St./Vandy/Arkansas. All are evenly rated because UGA does not play them that often, and I've always been treated well in BR, Oxford, and Starkville. The only UGA-Arkansas games I've been to were in Athens, and Atlanta and there were not many Hogs around.
