what a beast.

Probably Calvin Johnson. Watched him even in high school.

I remember what really impressed me one time was watching him block on a sweep play. He absolutely pancaked the kid in front of him and then sprung another hard block to help the running back go about 80 yards for a TD. I mean I know he is known for his size, speed, and receiving ability but that play has always stuck in my mind as one of the greatest things I've ever seen on a football field.

Broke my heart that he went to Tech. I wish he would have worn the Red and Black.

AJ Green was a good one too

Gotta second AJ Green. Saw him play about 6 games his SR year at Summerville. I've been to many High School football games, but he's the only player I've ever seen where the whole group of officials working the game come over to shake his hand during warm-ups. The kid had a field presents like I've never seen...you could tell he owned the field. The other teams would just watch him during warm-ups until it was their turn at a drill. Quite interesting to watch that dynamic live.

Raphael Denson he was the fastest guy in the NCAA the year we played them at Stillwater and he took a KO return and was jogging by the 30.

I saw Leland McElroy also and that guy could just turn it on at any time.

Yep, thank you. That was him. Kid was incredible ... pure explosiveness.

I hate his career ended like it did.

Robert Edwards. He was a beast. Blew his knee out playing a football game during the pro bowl weekend on a beach in Hawaii.

That's who SCrooster is talking about. He could hit the edge on a toss sweep like a boss. Smoked Florida in 1997.

Yep, that was him ... thanks. I knew it was Edwards something.

He was explosive. His burst from a dead stop or off a cut was unreal - best I have ever seen. He could turn in the opposite direction and be going full speed in two steps - it was amazing.

I thought I remembered it being in Hawaii on Waikiki just outside of Happy's. We were actually over there at the time and I remembered it happening and them bringing the ambulance through the park to pick him up.

Later heard he tore everything up ... complete blowout of the knee. I always figured it was because he put so much torque on those knees and ankles with all that size and power at that speed when he made his cuts - the human knee joint just wasn't built to withstand it wide open like that.

The kid had no ceiling, except for what his knees could withstand and that was it for him.

Just an incredible ball player. We never saw him coming. He had been converted to RB from DB just before we played Georgia ... he had his breakout game against us - it was sweet and sour at the same time, watching that kid run in Billy-Brice.

That had to be nearly twenty years ago. I'm gonna say '97 at the latest.
