Fine. Are you an alter or not?

Hog posters: Did you know the UofA will have a Walmart "College Market" on campus before school is out this semester?
I find that funny, cool, and sad all in one.

Those are some nice fishin holes. Just curious, what would be the odds of me getting attacked/killed by a gator if I was fishing there? And Yeah, the campus is nice.
Basically, anywhere there's water in Louisiana or Florida, there's a good chance there's an alligator in the water.

This alligator was sunning himself on a log in the middle of the lake next to the BREC City Park golf course.
Alligator in LSU Lake
There are officers in BR & LA as a whole whose main job is to respond to alligator sightings. They're pretty good at what they do. There was one featured on "Swamp People".

My friend and I were fishing on a little canoe and he hooked an alligator gar. When he seen the fish, he got scared and jumped and ended up flipping the boat. I can only imagine what would have happened if an alligator surfaced beside us.

That happened in Swamp People. Those cajuns are used to that however, and they handled it like it happened every day.
Heck, maybe it does.

Sounds like a good concept to me. Hope they employ 100% students and sell beer.

I think it is going to be in the new Garland parking garage.
Pretty cool how they incorporated small shopping areas into the two new parking decks they have built over the last few years.

Only thing about that show, most of those guys are rich as all get out. Not at all like they're portrayed.
Troy Landy, for example, owns several Cracker Barrel franchises and beucoup land..

I didn't know that but I figured they probably had pretty good money because of the show.

Any thread like this is going to be plagued by a couple of conceptional problems:
1) Preference of styles. Do you like Modern architecture? Do you like red brick? Do you like a small, consolidated area? Do you want athletic facilities to be concentrated on campus, or is it ok for them to be spread out? Your taste in these things will determine your affinity for most SEC campuses (I've been to 11-- never set foot in UF proper, only their football stadium)
2) Familiarity bias. You like what is familiar-- its hard to gain separation for objective evaluation, because you have an intimate familiarity of all the 'hidden gems' of your favorite school.
That said, I like some campuses better than others, and unsurprisingly, it tends to fall along these lines.
Campuses I enjoy:
Arkansas
Georgia
Vanderbilt
All are pretty, feature smart uses of geography and landscape, and have the sports facilities somewhat attached to campus without having them stuck directly between an English lecture hall and the college of engineering.
Campuses I was more impressed with than I anticipated:
LSU
Alabama
MSU
LSU is unique. I like Stanford better for that style, but it does grow on me every time I visit BR.
MSU deserves credit for a full on remake over the past decade. Fifteen years ago, I would have put it 11th of the 11 I've seen. Now? Somewhere in the middle. I think the stadium location is somewhat unique, in terms of relation to the University itself, and there's really a dominant style to it all, but it's not exactly my cup of tea. It's pretty for what it is, though.
Underwhelmed by or slightly disappointed in vs. reputation:
Ole Miss
South Carolina
Auburn
Maybe my expectations were different, but I thought OM would be a little nicer if more diversity of look existed. It has some lovely features, and the Grove is great. I had expected it to be a Top 3 type.
Auburn was somewhat a victim of geography; a lack of changing landscape probably was my biggest complaint, but it's still pretty enough.
Didn't like:
Kentucky
Tennessee
Outside of Rupp, Kentucky just hasn't got a lot of character to me. It seemed to be retrograde in many areas, but nice in others. No consistency, IMHO.
I like what Tenn has done with the river and Neyland, but I expected more of it than I saw. Maybe I just didn't go to the right spots.
Incomplete: Florida. Haven't been anywhere other than the football stadium, really.

Tulane has character, charisma. There's a reason we lead the nation in number of applications among private universities. Kids want a piece of that beautiful uptown NOLA campus
Look man, I love New Orleans like the rest of the US, but seriously, get over yourself. Kids aren't flocking or dying to go to Tulane. Aside from Louisiana residents, Tulane will always be the second, third, fourth, etc. choice for students around the country. And the Tulane campus isn't that great. It is right across from a half assed park and Loyola which looks like my old high school.
