It should..our Big10 poached coach runs an offense from the current century

I honestly hope it does work out. I really like the direction MOST of the coaching changes are shaping up. It's time to bring top notch coaching talent back to the SEC. It's so much more fun when the majority of teams have at least a shot at knocking off any other team on any given Saturday.

Do you mind divulging a bit more into this claim?

I know he probably isn't going anywhere, but you can't approach it that way as an AD, you have to cover yourself and treat it as if he's any other coach and has no ties to the program. And remember, he is taking a huge risk for you. He's inheriting an impossible situation and failing could quite literally end his career.

While normally you would just have a large buyout, Luke probably wouldn't agree to that unless it was a two way street (you owe him if you fire him and he owes you if he leaves). Given the uncertainty of the NCAA stuff, that just isn't a realistic option for either party. So the other route you're left with is to over pay him and attach some incentives to the contract. It doesn't help you if he wins 10 games and someone comes calling, you will still have to match them, but it at least keeps him comfortable and keeps his contract above his market value.

Same issue with coordinators, you're going to have to over pay until the sanctions clear up.

Depends on your definition of failing. Sanctions, a depleted roster, and having one of the strongest SOS's in the nation isn't really his fault and that will be mostly overlooked.

And I really don't see him leaving Ole Miss because we can't match someone else's offer.

A: because it's gonna take him a hell of a lot more than he would be worth for him to leave Ole Miss(legit dream job)

B: I also have no expectations of him getting to a point where top 5 programs are trying to outbid us for his services.

Why should we be nervous?

Our program is on very solid footing. Location is not bad at all. Fan base though smaller than some of your blue bloods is like a family, is very supportive and loyal and we also exercise a degree of patience not seen in some of the wanna be programs. Facilities are great, campus is the best tended in the conference, baseball stadium is about to be the Taj Mahal of college baseball facilities. Football stadium is beautiful. I could go on but I think you get the picture.

This current hire is IMHO the best of the new hires to date.
