That's dumb and misinformed. The 2007 Mizzou-kansas game at Arrowhead was the second largest crowd in the stadium's history and I mean compared to NFL Chiefs games, the place was on maximum overflow and people were getting trampled in the halls because the place was so swamped. And in all the years when kansas was halfway decent by some semblance of a standard the place was jam packed. The Top 5 matchup that Mizzou and ku had is a much more fair comparison since that's more of what the Iron Bowl traditionally has been rather than one side being good and the other one being gutterswell and a basketball school.
MU-ku anything but apathetic

It is not Mizzou's fault that ku has been one of the worst D-1 programs in America for the past couple years or that their basketball obsessed fanbase turns tail and runs like cowards if they are afraid they can't win. It's not our fault that their fanbase is not comparable to Auburn or Bama. And quite frankly, you talk a big game but if Auburn were an 0-11 scrub as your rival not all of your fans would have so much of a hardon to see the game. UAB is at least a somewhat more apt comparison level for kansas. That doesn't change the fact they are our ancient rival since before the Civil War and that we shot at each other and hate each other. We made do with what we have. We sold out our allotment and then some on a cold, blizzard type day to come see our unranked team battle the worst team in the country. So screw off.

What's dumb and misinformed is you thinking that there would ever be 10 empty seats at an Alabama-Auburn game, no matter what the records. You'll learn soon enough. Auburn most definitely has sucked big time during the course of the rivalry's history...some teams of the seventies especially come to mind during Bama's long winning streak, and even when they played at Legion Field and tickets were split evenly, there was never an empty seat. So you go screw off until you get a clue what you're talking about.

It takes two sides to have a "bitter rivalry", and obviously you don't have one. The very fact that you've stopped playing is clear enough indication. Hell would freeze over before Alabama and Auburn stopped playing, even if one team got out of the SEC. No, it's not your fault that KU doesn't show up, but don't try and convince people that it's a "bitter rivalry" when apparently your side is the only one that cares.

Get a clue. Why in the hell do you think you guys got put in the East, anyway? To protect two very real bitter rivalries, Ala-UT and Ala-Auburn.

Man the tard is strong in this one. OK buddy, I know football is all y'all think about in Alabammy but its one of the most basic tenents of knowing American collegiate sports to know that kansas is and always has been a basketball school. So, in terms of the rivalry they have with us in general being bitter and important to them, I want you to do something OK? Go on youtube or somewhere and pull up video of ku's Allen Fieldhouse for the last ever basketball game between Mizzou and ku this year and talk to me about the passion and bitterness and rowdiness and importance of that game to their fanbase. Got it? Good. They, like Duke and Indiana and North Carolina, pick their spots to be passionate and for them its basketball, but none of that negates the importance of their rivalry with Mizzou to them.

And frankly, to a large degree the empty seats on their end in the last football game with us were because their fans knew they had NO chance of beating us because they had the worst team in any BCS conference last year, and they could not stomach looking us in the eye and being surrounded by Mizzou fans if they were gonna go down like punks. They instead turned tail and ran to basketball season where they are a national championship contender and thought they could have the last word (though it turned out Mizzou was right there with them in hooops as well).

As far as bitterness, you can blow yourself. I come from a gene pool where a great great great grandad of mine had to serve as a town lookout to tell the Missouri town below when Jayhawkers were coming to shoot at them. It is Hatfields and McCoys. It's not even sporting derived. Sports became an outlet for something else.

And yes I know you had Bama people filling seats in the 70s, cuz you were a national championship contender every damn year. Give me a couple decades worth of both Bama and Auburn never sniffing a national championship or even the top ten....and let me see how exciting and tough a ticket the Iron Bowl is then. Better yet give me an Auburn-Alabama basketball game. Oh yeah, they are snooze fests I forgot. People gravitate to the sports where one or both of the programs is a major national draw. That's human nature. For the Iron Bowl that's football. For the Mizzou-kansas border war, it has been football at times, other times its been basketball. But to say that doesn't mean its not a bitter rivalry is way misinformed.

As for the rivalry being discontinued, that was ku's decision not ours. And actually it was not even ku's decision - ku is following the model that the Texas Longhorns laid out for their treatment of the Texas A&M rivalry. ku already was saying the exact same things Texas did even before we seceded from the SEC - know why? Cuz Texas TOLD them to as a loyalty oath to the Big 12. Texas tells them jump, kansas asks how high. kansas played on the Longhorn Network this year and wants to protect that money so they kiss the ring. So they followed UT's treamtent of ATM. now are you also gonna tell me that Texas-Texas A&M was not a bitter or real rivalry either due to the fact that it was discontinued? That's your stance on Mizzou-ku, so to be consistent and logical it'd have to be yours stance on ATM-UT also.

You just like stirring the pot and provoking people whenever possible because you think it's fun. It's not personal to you, and you rarely mean to truly insult anyone. Except Porker Face and the Dudefish. And you're probably not going to change. So, for the most part I just roll with it.

I am late to discussion, but have to say:

MU/kU rivalry was (is) one of most intense, heated, bitter, hate-filled among all college rivalries! The very fact that these games may not have mattered to rest of the nation in terms of deciding a NC, and were still so flammable might help explain the insanity of the rivalry! Even though we won't be playing them in near future, the HATE lives on.

I personally want other teams in our conference to win games, cause if Mizzou should lose to them at least we weren't beat by a loser. That held true for all schools except kU, while we were part of Big 12. Of course in conference games, I might root for underdog based on rankings compared to Mizzou.

Vandalism, is not a rivalry....it is a crime. Just saying.

I'm not sure that's as strong a sentiment as it used to be. I used to be pretty SEC-loyal, but now I really don't feel it like I used to. I would say I was pretty gung-ho about it until 2009. When the SEC so blatantly protected Alabama and Florida to keep them undefeated going into the SECCG, I got fed up with the conference. I was ambivalent in the Texas-Alabama NC game. I was hoping Auburn would beat Oregon, but wasn't all that passionate about it, and it wouldn't have bothered me if Oregon had won. And now that we won't even play half the teams in the conference on any kind of regular basis, I feel even less connection with the SEC East other than Florida.

Dude. I hate ALL you motherfrickers on Game day. A victory for Auburn and a LOSS by anybody whose demise would benefit Auburn is all I cheer for.

When its two teams I mutually dislike, like Georgia and Florida, then I root for groin pulls and minor injuries.

That my son is the SEC Mentality.

No, I thought CoastTiger had said MU - kU wasnt an intense rivalry. I thought you would have to come back and educate your Cajun friend, but I was wrong so it is all good.
